Bladder cancer (BLCA) is the tenth most common cancer worldwide, characterized by its high recurrence and progression rates. Thus, identifying prognostic biomarkers and understanding its underlying mechanisms are imperative to enhance patient outcomes. In this study, we aimed to investigate the prognostic significance, expression, functional activity, and underlying mechanisms of RRM2 in BLCA.

Subjects And Methods: Between January 2020 and October 2022, patients with adrenal lesions were retrospectively screened for nonfunctional adrenal tumors at the Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University. All patients underwent detailed endocrinological examination and computed tomography to characterize the lesions.
The serine/threonine kinase polo-like kinase 1 (PLK1) is a master regulator of cell proliferation and contraction, but its physiological role in the lower urinary tract is unknown. We utilized transcriptomic programs of human bladder smooth muscle cells (hBSMCs), 3D bladder spheroid viability assays, and human ureterovesical junction contractility measurements to elucidate the impacts of PLK1 inhibition. This work reveals PLK1 reduction with the selective inhibitor TAK-960 (500 nM) suppresses high K+-evoked contractions of human urinary smooth muscle ex vivo while decreasing urothelial cell viability.

Forsythiaside A (FTA), derived from Forsythia suspense, has been found to possess nephroprotective properties. However, there is limited research on its anti-fibrotic effects, and its mechanism of action remains unknown.

Although computed tomography urography (CTU) is currently the most accurate imaging modality for diagnosis, atypical presentations and physical examination findings can sometimes obscure lesions, posing diagnostic challenges.
Case Presentation: In this report, three patients exhibited atypical symptoms, sharing a common complaint of flank pain.
Introduction: Leptin is a metabolic peptide hormone produced by adipocytes, with proven roles in proliferation of prostate cancer cells and of prostate cells in animal models of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Thus, the role of leptin as a molecular link connecting BPH and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) suggestive of BPH with metabolic symptoms appears feasible but is still unknown. In fact, a connection between metabolic syndrome and BPH is becoming increasingly evident from epidemiologic studies.

Currently, animal models of urosepsis widely accepted by investigators are very scarce. This study aimed to establish a standardized and reproducible model of urosepsis in rats.

Associations between UCHL5 and cancer have been reported in various tissues, but the effect of UCHL5 on bladder cancer has not been thoroughly investigated. This study investigates the expression and function of UCHL5 in bladder cancer.

Methods: We evaluated the differential expression of KIF23 in pan-cancer by The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Oncomine database. Then, the correlation between KIF23 with prognosis, clinical grade, stage, immune subtype, tumor mutation burden (TMB), microsatellite instability (MSI) and immune microenvironment was explored by TCGA, an integrated repository portal for tumor-immune system interactions (TISIDB) and cBioPortal.
