Importance: Enhanced breast cancer screening with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is recommended to women with elevated risk of breast cancer, yet uptake of screening remains unclear after genetic testing.
Objective: To evaluate uptake of MRI after genetic results disclosure and counseling.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This multicenter cohort study was conducted at the University of Southern California Norris Cancer Hospital, the Los Angeles General Medical Center, and the Stanford University Cancer Institute.
What Is This Summary About?: Researchers wanted to study whether the research drug zanidatamab could help people with a type of cancer called biliary tract cancer. In some people, biliary tract cancer cells make extra copies of a gene called HER2 (also called ERBB2). This is known as being HER2-amplified.

Blood pressure (BP) displays a circadian rhythm and disruptions in this pattern elevate cardiovascular risk. Although both central and peripheral clock genes are implicated in these processes, the importance of vascular clock genes is not fully understood. BP, vascular reactivity, and the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system display overt sex differences, but whether changes in circadian patterns underlie these differences is unknown.

Here, we used a lysimeter to examine N leaching losses and biomass yield following application of dairy effluent and manure under wheat-maize cropping. The field experiment included seven treatments: no N fertilizer (Control); 200/300 kg N ha synthetic N fertilizer only (wheat/maize) (CN); 100/150 kg N ha synthetic N fertilizer plus 100/150 (DE1), 150/200 (DE2) and 250/350 (DE3) kg N ha dairy effluent; 100/150 kg N ha synthetic fertilizer plus 100/150 kg N ha dairy manure (SM1); and 150/225 kg N ha synthetic fertilizer plus 50/75 kg N ha dairy manure (SM2).

Advancement in technology with point-of-care (POC) testing can improve the overall treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STI) in the emergency department (ED) by shortening the time to test result and administration of accurate treatment. The purpose of this study was to assess if the POC test reduced the rate of overtreatment for CT and/or NG compared to the standard-of-care (SOC) test.

Lower testosterone level is associated with cardiovascular and cardiometabolic diseases, including inflammation, atherosclerosis, and type 2 diabetes.

Methods: Germline DNA samples were genotyped and imputed using genome-wide arrays. Tumor DNA samples were extracted from paraffin blocks, and T cell receptor clonality and abundance were quantified by immunoSEQ (Adaptive Biotechnologies, Seattle, WA).
Purpose: This article aims to describe the presentation of Plummer disease and its evolution after radioiodine treatment and determine factors that may influence treatment efficacy.
Patients And Methods: The sample included retrospective medical records of 165 adult patients with toxic nodular goiter treated with radioiodine between 1997 and 2017, followed up at a single thyroid center.
Results: The efficacy of treatment with a single dose of radioiodine was higher than 90%.
Background: Training programs for advanced practice providers (APP) often have significant variability in their curriculum, including electrocardiogram (ECG) education. Despite limitations in formal ECG training, APPs in the emergency department (ED) may be the first practitioner to interpret an ECG. Foundations of Emergency Medicine (FoEM) offers free, open-access curricula that are widely used for resident education.

The current study assessed whether a mouse model of menopause increases arterial stiffness in a similar manner to aging and whether activation of the G-protein-coupled estrogen receptor could reverse stiffness.
Methods: Female C57Bl/6J mice were ovariectomized at 10 weeks of age or aged to 52 weeks, and some mice were treated with G-protein-coupled estrogen receptor agonists.
Genetic testing for germline RET pathogenic variants, which cause the Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 2 (MEN2) syndrome, has become crucial in managing patients with medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC). Classically, RET heterozygous missense pathogenic variants are transmitted in a Mendelian autosomal dominant pattern, of which germline/gonadal mosaicism has never been reported. We report the novel occurrence of a MEN2A patient's family in which the siblings inherited three different RET 634 genotypes: wild type (p.

Patients and caregivers participated in two online surveys (in partnership with the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation). The patient survey data (n = 707) show a substantial impact of cholangiocarcinoma on QoL and mental health, with 34% of patients reporting symptoms consistent with moderately severe/severe depression.

The resulting "fluid-solid-growth" (FSG) solver allows long term, patient-specific predictions of changing hemodynamics, vessel wall morphology, tissue composition, and material properties. This extension from short term (FSI) to long term (FSG) simulations increases clinical relevance by enabling mechanobioloigcally-dependent studies of disease progression in complex domains.

We hypothesized that increased heterozygosity at HLA loci is associated with a reduced risk of developing colorectal cancer (CRC).
Methods: We imputed HLA class I and II four-digit alleles using genotype data from a population-based study of 5,406 cases and 4,635 controls from the Molecular Epidemiology of Colorectal Cancer Study (MECC).

Therapeutics which are selective for the diseased vasculature are ideal, but whole-body selectivity of a therapeutic is challenging to assess in practice. Vessel myography is used to determine the functional mechanisms and evaluate pharmacological responses of vascularly-targeted therapeutics.

Background: Subscapularis function is critical after anatomic total shoulder arthroplasty (aTSA). Recently, however, a technique has been described that features a chevron or V-shaped subscapularis tendon cut (VT). This biomechanical study compared repair of the standard tenotomy (ST), made perpendicular to the subscapularis fibers, to repair of the novel VT using cyclic displacement, creep, construct stiffness, and load to failure.
