High application rates of dairy effluent and manure are often associated with nitrogen (N) leaching, which can affect groundwater quality. Here, we used a lysimeter to examine N leaching losses and biomass yield following application of dairy effluent and manure under wheat-maize cropping. The field experiment included seven treatments: no N fertilizer (Control); 200/300 kg N ha synthetic N fertilizer only (wheat/maize) (CN); 100/150 kg N ha synthetic N fertilizer plus 100/150 (DE1), 150/200 (DE2) and 250/350 (DE3) kg N ha dairy effluent; 100/150 kg N ha synthetic fertilizer plus 100/150 kg N ha dairy manure (SM1); and 150/225 kg N ha synthetic fertilizer plus 50/75 kg N ha dairy manure (SM2).

Purpose: This article aims to describe the presentation of Plummer disease and its evolution after radioiodine treatment and determine factors that may influence treatment efficacy.

Patients And Methods: The sample included retrospective medical records of 165 adult patients with toxic nodular goiter treated with radioiodine between 1997 and 2017, followed up at a single thyroid center.

Results: The efficacy of treatment with a single dose of radioiodine was higher than 90%.

To understand cholangiocarcinoma symptoms, diagnosis and treatment experience from the patient and caregiver perspective, including cholangiocarcinoma's impact on daily life, quality of life (QoL) and mental health. Patients and caregivers participated in two online surveys (in partnership with the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation). The patient survey data (n = 707) show a substantial impact of cholangiocarcinoma on QoL and mental health, with 34% of patients reporting symptoms consistent with moderately severe/severe depression.

We implement full, three-dimensional constrained mixture theory for vascular growth and remodeling into a finite element fluid-structure interaction (FSI) solver. The resulting "fluid-solid-growth" (FSG) solver allows long term, patient-specific predictions of changing hemodynamics, vessel wall morphology, tissue composition, and material properties. This extension from short term (FSI) to long term (FSG) simulations increases clinical relevance by enabling mechanobioloigcally-dependent studies of disease progression in complex domains.
