Background: To address the unmet need for a smaller pacemaker for babies, a specially modified implantable pulse generator was developed containing a Medtronic Micra subassembly in a polymer header connecting to a bipolar epicardial lead. The aim of this study was to report midterm follow-up data and outcomes of patients who underwent implantation of this device.
Methods: Deidentified data were collected from 12 of 15 sites in the United States implanting the pediatric implantable pulse generator between March 2022 and February 2024.
Objectives: To assess whether right atrial enlargement (RAE) on electrocardiogram (ECG) correlates with true RAE on echocardiogram in previously healthy young patients and to understand which patients with RAE on ECG may warrant additional testing.
Study Design: A single-center, retrospective review of previously healthy young patients with (1) ECGs that were read as RAE by a pediatric cardiologist and (2) echocardiograms obtained within 90 days of the ECG. ECGs were reviewed to confirm RAE and determine which leads met criteria.
There is currently no clear consensus on screening techniques to evaluate the presence or severity of Fontan-associated liver disease (FALD). Cardiac MRI (CMR) is used routinely for post-Fontan surveillance, but CMR-derived measures that relate to the severity of FALD are not yet defined. This was a cross-sectional single-center study of post-Fontan patients who underwent a CMR.
