Therapeutic Response of Alopecia Areata-Associated Nail Changes to Baricitinib.

Nail changes are seen in some individuals with alopecia areata, with the most common variants including pitting and trachyonychia. The nail findings are presumed to be due to the same lymphocytic infiltration seen in hair bulbs in individuals with AA. Baricitinib is an immunomodulatory drug that acts as a selective and reversible inhibitor of JAK proteins and is indicated for adult patients with moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis who have not responded to other disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs.

Two reports of phacomatosis pigmentovascularis type IIb, one in association with Sturge-Weber syndrome and Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome.

We present two rare cases of phacomatosis pigmentovascularis type IIb, with one patient demonstrating concurrent Sturge-Weber syndrome and Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome. To the best of our knowledge, this is the second infantile case meeting diagnostic criteria for systemic phacomatosis pigmentovascularis type IIb, Sturge-Weber syndrome and Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome in the English language literature.

The recognition and treatment of pathological skin picking: a potential neurobiological underpinning of the efficacy of pharmacotherapy in impulse control disorders.

Pathological skin picking is an impulse control disorder that causes significant anxiety and disfigurement to those afflicted. Standard therapy with a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor provides variable and often suboptimal responses. We report a case of pathological skin picking treated with paliperidone, a 5-HT2/D2 antagonist.
