Background: Medulloblastoma is a highly malignant pediatric brain tumor that requires surgery, whole brain and spine irradiation, and intense chemotherapy for treatment. A more sophisticated understanding of the pathophysiology of medulloblastoma is needed to successfully reduce the intensity of treatment and improve outcomes. Nuclear factor kappa-B (NFκB) is a signaling pathway that controls transcriptional activation of genes important for tight regulation of many cellular processes and is aberrantly expressed in many types of cancer.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFCD4(+)CD25(+) regulatory T cells (Tregs) play an important role in allograft and self-tolerance and thus have potential therapeutic application in transplantation, autoimmunity, and allergy. Although nonhuman primate (NHP) provide the most accepted preclinical models for translational studies in allograft tolerance and infectious diseases, CD4(+)CD25(+) Tregs have been rarely studied in NHP. The low frequencies of Tregs in peripheral blood will likely necessitate ex vivo expansion to enable Tregs adaptive immune therapy in NHP and humans.
