Ventral leg patterning in Drosophila is controlled by the expression of the redundant T-box Transcription factors midline (mid) and H15. Here, we show that mid represses the Dpp-activated gene Daughters against decapentaplegic (Dad) through a consensus T-box binding element (TBE) site in the minimal enhancer, Dad13. Mutating the Dad13 DNA sequence results in an increased and broadening of Dad expression.

Represented disciplines included athletic training, clinical psychology, communication sciences and disorders, nursing, nutrition and dietetics, physician assistant, and social work. Faculty committee members from each discipline developed a case study that followed COVID-19 patients in a family and allowed for students to explore cultural considerations within the case.

We find that there are at least two pathways for mid and H15 specification of ventral fate. In the first pathway, mid and H15 negatively regulate Dpp, the dorsal signal in leg development.

Benefits of GPC include lower rates of prematurity and low birth weight, fewer cesarean deliveries, improved breastfeeding outcomes and improved maternal satisfaction with care. However, the outpatient financial costs of running a GPC program are not well established.

Methods: A pragmatic, randomized, controlled trial was conducted in 2011 to 2012.
The purpose of this study was to determine if viewing a training video on empowerment of individuals with an intellectual and developmental disability would change the attitudes of direct support professionals (DSPs). Participants were 43 DSPs from a human service provider to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We randomly assigned them to one of two groups.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFAccess to dental care is becoming an increasing problem in the United States, as in other parts of the world. The dental program at the University of Rochester clinic in Honduras, as well as other projects, have demonstrated that the ability to deliver quality care can be enhanced by expanded use of medical personnel, other than dentists, and even by civic action. While there is no substitute for the trained dentist, perhaps techniques learned in these projects can alleviate some of the predicaments until such a dentist is accessible.

A pre-test/post-test randomized group design composed of three cohorts was utilized to test 1) a LCHP ketogenic diet; 2) the Zone diet; and 3) a conventional hypocaloric diabetic exchange diet that supplied < 10%, 40%, and 50% of calories from carbohydrate, respectively. Body composition was measured before and after the intervention treatment period with dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. Mean weight loss was 5.
