Homes are important: People devote much of their thought, time, and resources to selecting, modifying, and decorating their living spaces, and they may be devastated when their homes must be sold or are destroyed. Yet the empirical psychological literature says virtually nothing about the roles that homes might play in people's lives. We argue that homes provide an informative context for a wide variety of studies examining how social, developmental, cognitive, and other psychological processes play out in a consequential real-world setting.

Therefore appropriate animal models of AD are essential if we are to dissect the processes leading to molecular pathology, and ultimately to test the efficacy of potential therapies before clinical studies.
