Vertebral osteoporotic fractures (VOF) are among the most frequent fractures in the elderly, often leading to an impaired lifestyle and a high economic burden. Although a reduced bone mass density is considered one of the main risk factors for VOF, its role in determining the fracture type, using the AO spine-DGOU classification for osteoporotic thoracolumbar fractures, as well as its progression, is unknown. The current study aimed to: (1) reveal whether the bone density of the vertebral bodies of fractured and non-fractured vertebrae predicts the type of fracture, (2) examine whether bone density is associated with the initial and progressive collapse of the vertebral body, and (3) provide predictive measures for fracture progression.

Purpose: Facilitated subcutaneous immunoglobulin (fSCIG; immune globulin infusion 10% [human] with recombinant human hyaluronidase [rHuPH20]) permits high-volume subcutaneous immunoglobulin (SCIG) infusion, shorter infusion times and reduced dosing frequency relative to conventional SCIG. It is initiated by gradually increasing infusion volumes over time (dose ramp-up) to achieve target dose level (TDL). Whether ramp-up strategies have tolerability or safety advantages over direct initiation at full TDL has not been evaluated clinically.

Purpose: To evaluate patient reported outcomes and radiographic arthritic changes of transtibial anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) with either bone-patellar tendon-bone (BPTB) or hamstrings (HS) auto-grafts at a minimum of 15-year follow-up.

Methods: Ninety-four patients (51 of the HS group, 43 of BPTB group) who were operated between the years 2000 to 2005 in two tertiary referral hospitals were contacted and invited to a retrospective evaluation. The interview included subjective outcomes using the Lysholm knee scoring questionnaire, Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), Tegner activity level scale, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) for pain and patients' satisfaction scale.

The integrated stress response (ISR) is a key cellular signaling pathway activated by environmental alterations that represses protein synthesis to restore homeostasis. To prevent sustained damage, the ISR is counteracted by the upregulation of growth arrest and DNA damage-inducible 34 (GADD34), a stress-induced regulatory subunit of protein phosphatase 1 that mediates translation reactivation and stress recovery. Here, we uncover a novel ISR regulatory mechanism that post-transcriptionally controls the stability of PPP1R15A mRNA encoding GADD34.

Ectopic pituitary neuroendocrine tumors (PitNET)/adenomas are rare and diagnostically challenging extra-sellar tumors. Previous studies have demonstrated the impact of epigenomic analyses in the diagnostics of sellar neoplasms and characterized the close relationship of epigenomic signatures and cellular origins of PitNET/adenomas. As of today, little is known about the pathogenesis of ectopic PitNET/adenomas, and epigenomic analyses have not been performed in these rare tumors.
