This perspective piece addresses the challenges junior clinician-educators face as they navigate career development within academic medical centers. In addition to understanding local promotion and tenure processes and seeking mentorship, we argue that faculty feedback is an often neglected, but essential, component in clinician-educator development. We repurpose and use the MISCA model-Message, Implementation, Student, Context, and Agents-as a framework to better understand and improve feedback for faculty.

Recent studies suggest that antigen-based testing aligns with virus culture-based results (a proxy of contagiousness at the peak viral phase of illness); however, the performance of Ag-RDTs for newer SARS-CoV-2 variants is unclear. In this study, we (i) assessed the performance of Ag-RDTs and diagnostic antibodies to detect a range of SARS-CoV-2 variants and (ii) determined whether Ag-RDT results correlated with culture positivity.

We show here that CNPY2 is protective against ER stress induced by tunicamycin in neuronal cells. Overexpression of CNPY2 enhanced, while downregulation of CNPY2 using shRNA expression, reduced the viability of neuroblastoma cells after tunicamycin.

Methods And Results: In a cohort study covering the whole Swedish population, we assessed all heart failure patients who died between 1 July 2007 and 31 December 2020 for evidence-based treatments.
Background: Post-COVID conditions (PCC) are difficult to characterize, diagnose, predict, and treat due to overlapping symptoms and poorly understood pathology. Identifying inflammatory profiles may improve clinical prognostication and trial endpoints.
Methods: 1,988 SARS-CoV-2 positive U.
Background: Chronic neuropsychological sequelae following SARS-CoV-2 infection, including depression, anxiety, fatigue, and general cognitive difficulties, are a major public health concern. Given the potential impact of long-term neuropsychological impairment, it is important to characterize the frequency and predictors of this post-infection phenotype.
Methods: The Epidemiology, Immunology, and Clinical Characteristics of Emerging Infectious Diseases with Pandemic Potential (EPICC) study is a longitudinal study assessing the impact of SARS-CoV-2 infection in U.

Background: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is an increasingly important treatment option for patients with severe aortic stenosis. Its best implementation is debated, as few centres with high volumes are associated with better outcomes, while centralization might lead to an inferior availability of treatment for patients living far away. The aim of this study was to investigate the implementation of TAVI in Sweden with a focus on regional differences in terms of availability, short-term mortality, and waiting times.

Methods: We compared survey responses in a 1-year study of US military service members with (n = 1923) and without (n = 1591) a history of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. We fit Poisson regression models to estimate the association between history of SARS-CoV-2 infection and fitness impairment, adjusting for time since infection, demographics, and baseline health.
Immune cells and cytokines are largely recognized as significant factors in the pathophysiology of neuropsychiatric disorders. The possible role of other blood cells such as leukocytes in events of acute psychosis is in contrast only emerging. To study blood-born markers in acute psychosis we here evaluated plasma proteins in drug-naive first-episode psychosis (FEP) patients and healthy controls using a multiplex proximity extension assay technique.

Background: We evaluated the impact of infectious disease (ID) syndromes on US active duty (AD) servicemembers returning from overseas deployment (DEP), military training exercises (EXR), or short-term military travel (eg, temporary assignment of duty [TDY]).
Methods: We conducted a survey-based assessment of US AD servicemembers returning from DEP, EXR, or TDY between 2015 and 2019. Subjects completed a post-travel survey capturing symptoms of travelers' diarrhea (TD), influenza-like illness (ILI), and febrile illness (FI).
Aim: COVID-19 may affect clinical risk in patients with heart failure. DELIVER began before and was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aimed to evaluate the association between COVID-19 and clinical outcomes among DELIVER participants.

USP14 can influence cellular processes such as cell survival, DNA repair, ER stress, endocytosis, and the inflammatory response. USP14 further plays a role in tumor growth, and the inhibition of USP14 by compounds such as IU1 may affect cancer cell migration and invasion.

Most recently, the COVID-19 pandemic affected essentially all aspects of care delivery and clinical research conduct. While consensus statements and clinical guidance documents have detailed potential mitigation measures, few real-world experiences detailing clinical trial adaptations to the COVID-19 pandemic exist, particularly among, large, global registrational cardiovascular trials.

We sought to assess the disease burden of arboviral infections in the Military Health System, the validity of arboviral diagnostic codes, and the role of pretravel counseling on insect avoidance precautions. We searched for diagnostic codes consistent with arboviral infection and grouped them into DNV, CHIKV, ZIKV, Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV), and Other.

To date, no cure or effective therapy is available. The role of chronic endoplasmic reticulum stress in the pathophysiology of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, as well as a potential drug target, has received increasing attention.

Currently, there is no treatment for halting the progression of HD. Apoptosis affects neurons after spinal cord injury (SCI) and is associated with increased caspase activity. Cleavage of X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP) after SCI may contribute to this rise in caspase activity.

Objective: To identify characteristics associated with persistent post-COVID-19 symptoms and to describe post-COVID-19 medical encounters.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This cohort study used data from the Epidemiology, Immunology, and Clinical Characteristics of Emerging Infectious Diseases With Pandemic Potential (EPICC) study implemented in the US military health system (MHS); MHS beneficiaries aged 18 years or older who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 from February 28, 2020, through December 31, 2021, were analyzed, with 1-year follow-up.
Background: Insulin-like growth factor-binding protein-7 (IGFBP-7) has been proposed as a potential prognostic biomarker in heart failure (HF), but the association between elevation in IGFBP-7 and HF outcomes in ambulant patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) is unknown.
Objectives: The authors addressed this question in a post hoc analysis of the DAPA-HF (Dapagliflozin and Prevention of Adverse Outcomes in Heart Failure) trial.
Methods: The primary outcome was a composite of cardiovascular death or a worsening HF event.
