The Code is a formal part of AAPM governance, maintained as Professional Policy 24, and includes both principles of ethical practice and the rules by which a complaint will be adjudicated. The structure and content of the Code have been crafted to also serve the much broader purpose of giving practical ethical guidance to AAPM members for making sound decisions in their professional lives.

Background: For reirradiation of spinal column metastases, intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) reduces the dose to the spinal cord, while allowing longer treatment times. We analyzed the potential of volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) to reduce treatment time and number of monitor units (MU).

Studies examining follow-up care among cancer survivors have increased in number, and are mostly focused on who best provides care. It is not known whether having single or multiple physicians as follow-up providers has outcome implications. We prospectively studied the association between number of follow-up providers among survivors of hematologic malignancies and serious medical utilization (defined as emergency room visits or hospitalizations) within a 6-month period.
