Pathologists collect swab samples for Papanicolaou (Pap) staining to diagnose various diseases including cancer and HIV. Time constraints and limited resources, may preclude staining a sample immediately. To re-confirm results, samples must be frozen for later analysis.

The Code is a formal part of AAPM governance, maintained as Professional Policy 24, and includes both principles of ethical practice and the rules by which a complaint will be adjudicated. The structure and content of the Code have been crafted to also serve the much broader purpose of giving practical ethical guidance to AAPM members for making sound decisions in their professional lives.

We analyzed the potential of volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) to reduce treatment time and number of monitor units (MU).
Patients And Methods: In CT datasets of 9 patients with spinal column metastases, the planned target volume (PTV) encompassed the macroscopic tumor including the spinal cord or medullary cone, respectively.
Studies examining follow-up care among cancer survivors have increased in number, and are mostly focused on who best provides care. It is not known whether having single or multiple physicians as follow-up providers has outcome implications. We prospectively studied the association between number of follow-up providers among survivors of hematologic malignancies and serious medical utilization (defined as emergency room visits or hospitalizations) within a 6-month period.

Background: The reduced folate carrier (RFC1) is an integral membrane protein and facilitative anion exchanger that mediates delivery of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate into mammalian cells. Adequate maternal-fetal transport of folate is necessary for normal embryogenesis. Targeted inactivation of the murine RFC1 gene results in post-implantation embryolethality, but daily folic acid supplementation of pregnant dams prolongs survival of homozygous embryos until mid-gestation.

Background: The reduced folate carrier (RFC1) is a ubiquitously expressed integral membrane protein that mediates delivery of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate into mammalian cells. In this study, embryonic/fetal development is characterized in an RFC1 knockout mouse model in which pregnant dams receive different levels of folate supplementation.
Methods: RFC1(+/-) males were mated to RFC1(+/-) females, and pregnant dams were treated with vehicle (control) or folic acid (25 or 50 mg/kg) by daily subcutaneous injection (0.
