Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how to diagnose and understand the mechanisms behind non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that has spread to the brain's leptomeninges, where obtaining tissue samples is difficult.
  • Researchers combined single-cell RNA sequencing and cell-free RNA analysis to identify gene expressions in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from NSCLC patients with suspected leptomeningeal metastases.
  • They found that the gene CEACAM6 serves as a significant marker for these patients and plays a role in cancer cell migration, suggesting its involvement in the progression of NSCLC in the brain.
