Cuproptosis, a newly identified form of cell death, has drawn increasing attention for its association with various cancers, though its specific role in colorectal cancer (CRC) remains unclear. In this study, transcriptomic and clinical data from CRC patients available in the TCGA database were analyzed to investigate the impact of cuproptosis. Differentially expressed genes linked to cuproptosis were identified using Weighted Gene Co-Expression Network Analysis (WGCNA).

Iron overload can induce reactive oxygen species (ROS) burst and liver damage. Taurine can reduce ROS production and ameliorate liver injury caused by iron overload; however, the underlying molecular mechanism remains elusive. Herein, L02 cells treated with 120 M iron dextran for 48 h showed marked oxidative stress damage and significantly increased apoptosis.

Mangroves are coastal vegetation with high ecological and economic value that are mainly distributed in tropical and subtropical intertidal zones. In the past, they have been degraded by extensive deforestation for agricultural and aquatic land. In recent years, mangroves have been protected and sustainably used through considerable measures of conservation, restoration and afforestation, but the health trends of mangroves during this process are not clear.

Metadherin (MTDH) is a protein that is also named astrocyte elevated gene-1, and is highly expressed in a number of different tumor tissues. Although the expression of MTDH is associated with tumor invasion and recurrence, the expression of this protein in perihilar cholangiocarcinoma (PCCA) and its clinical use have not yet been investigated. In the present study, the expression of MTDH in patients with PCCA was investigated in order to determine its clinicopathological use.
