Four previously undescribed cyclic peptides, reniochpeptins A-D (1-4), were isolated from the marine sponge Reniochalina sp. Their structures were elucidated through comprehensive spectroscopic analyses and a modified advanced Marfey's method. This method utilized ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with tandem multiple reaction monitoring mass spectrometry, employing a CORTECS T column to achieve simultaneous separation of derivatized -Leu, -Ile, -allo-Ile, -Leu, -Ile, and -allo-Ile within 25 min in a single analytical run.

Article Synopsis
  • Scientists discovered five new cycloheptapeptides, named phakefusins A-E, from the marine sponge Phakellia fusca using a probe-based molecular networking approach.
  • Two of these compounds feature unique nonproteinogenic amino acids, while others have rare structural components such as methionine sulfoxide and glutamic acid ethyl ester.
  • The compounds were tested for their biological activities, with compound 1 showing moderate antitumor effects and compounds 2-5 demonstrating antioxidant potential by enhancing certain protective enzyme levels.

Cyanogripeptides A-C (-), three new cyclolipopeptides with unusual β-methyl-leucine residues, were identified from an LHW52806 using an LC-MS-guided strategy. The structures of compounds - were elucidated by 1D/2D NMR, HR-MS/MS, and the advanced Marfey's method. The absolute configuration of the β-methyl-leucine residue was determined by a combination of stereoselective biosynthesis of (2,3)-β-methyl-leucine, racemization to its epimer (2,3)-β-methyl-leucine, and the advanced Marfey's method.

Solid electrolytes with both interface compatibility and efficient ion transport have been an urgent technical requirement for the practical application of solid-state lithium batteries. Herein, a multifuctional poly(1,3-dioxolane) (PDOL) electrolyte combining the gradient structure from the solid state to the gel state with the LiLaZrTaO (LLZTO) interfacial modification layer was designed, in which the "solid-to-gel" gradient structure greatly improved the electrode/electrolyte interface compatibility and ion transport, while the solid PDOL and LLZTO layers effectively improved the interface stability of the electrolyte/lithium anode and the inhibition of the lithium dendrites via their high mechanical strength and forming a stable interfacial SEI composite film. This gradient PDOL/LLZTO composite electrolyte possesses a high ionic conductivity of 2.

High interface impedance, slow ion transmission, and easy growth of lithium dendrites in solid-state lithium battery are main obstacles to its development and application. Good interface combination and compatibility between electrolyte and electrodes is an important way to solve these problems. In this work, we successfully combined a high ionic conductive polymerized 1,3-dioxolane (PDOL) solid-state electrolyte and a PDOL gel-state electrolyte to form a rigid-flexible composite structural electrolyte and realized the gelation modification of solid electrolyte/electrode interface.

No thymomatous myasthenia gravis (TMG) has been reported in patients with anti-α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazole-propionic acid receptor encephalitis (AMPAR-E). We described clinical presentation and autoimmune profile of the first case with both AMPAR-E and TMG. Clinical information was obtained from original medical records.
