Giant tetrahedral molecules have sparked significant interest in the past decade due to their unique and diverse supramolecular nanostructures. The longer and bulkier peripheral substituents create deep molecular concavities and thus contribute to the different self-assembly behaviors compared to the conventional small tetrahedral molecules. In this study, a molecular giant tetrahedra, TetraNDI, was synthesized to investigate the important roles of the molecular concavities in the self-assembly mechanism.

Article Synopsis
  • Unobservable packet-loss (UPL) systems occur when the packet-loss status is not observable, while observable packet-loss (OPL) systems allow for monitoring this status.
  • The paper investigates the performance of the interacting multiple model (IMM) estimator specifically for UPL systems, focusing on how accurately the packet-loss status can be estimated over time.
  • It finds that unstable UPL systems transition to observable status with time, while stable UPL systems have a fixed estimation accuracy limit, and establishes a condition for stability of the IMM estimator based on packet-arrival rates.

This study investigated the dynamic changes in jasmine tea during the scenting process and explored the differences in the aroma characteristics of jasmine tea scented with single-petal jasmine "Bijian" and traditional double-petal jasmine "Shuangban." Twenty-one key volatile compounds were identified from jasmine tea by headspace solid-phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Compared with the intensely floral and sweet fragrance characteristic of jasmine tea scented with double-petal jasmine "Shuangban," the tea scented with single-petal jasmine "Bijian" exhibited a fresher aroma, which can be attributed to the accumulation of methyl benzoate.

Background: Increasingly, more evidence has shown that inflammation stress and the tumor microenvironment pose a negative effect on targeted therapy. The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio is considered to be a surrogate biomarker of inflammation and can predict pazopanib treatment effect in non-adipocytic soft-tissue sarcoma (STS). The role of the pan-immune-inflammation value (PIV) in STS is still yet to be determined.

Precise ions sieving at angstrom-scale is gaining tremendous attention thanks to its significant impact at the water-energy nexus. Herein, a novel polycation-modulated interfacial polymerization (IP) strategy is developed to prepare a heterogeneously charged covalent organic frameworks (COFs) membrane. Cationic poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDDA) regulates the growth and assembly of anionic COFs nanosheets, which thus provides a negative, smooth top surface and positive, rough bottom surface, indicating the presence of heterogeneously charged angstrom-scale channels through the membrane.

In the competition between the pathogen infection and the host defense, infectious microorganisms may enter the host cells by evading host defense mechanisms and use the intracellular biomolecules as replication nutrient. Among them, intracellular relies on the host cells to protect itself from the attacks by antibiotics or immune system to achieve long-term colonization in the host, and the consequent clinical therapeutic failures and relapses after antibiotic treatment. Here, we demonstrate that intracellular surviving well even in the presence of vancomycin can be effectively eliminated using an emerging cell-mimicking therapeutic strategy.

Based on driver mutations and gene expression profiles, the International Consensus Classification currently divided the entity 'Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL)' into two subtypes: lymphoid-only and multilineage involvement (Ph+ ALL-L and -M, respectively). The similar biological characteristics of Ph-like ALL and Ph+ ALL drove us to assume that Ph-like ALL-M subtypes exist. This report presents two pediatric ALL cases (one Ph+ and one Ph-like) with minimal residual disease negativity established by multicolor flow cytometry but persistent transcript detection by quantitative PCR (qPCR) even after second-line treatment with tyrosine kinase inhibitors combined with blinatumomab immunotherapy.
