The frequent inactivation of the p53 tumour suppressor protein in melanomagenesis may predict promising outcomes for p53 activators in melanoma therapy. Herein, we aimed to investigate the antitumor potential of the p53-activating agent SLMP53-2 against melanoma.

Epistemic and Political Confrontations Around the Public Policies to Fight COVID-19 Pandemic: What can Science Education learn from this episode?

Our purpose in this article is to discuss the roles for HPSS in Science Education considering the crisis of COVID-19, as well as to think what Science Education could look like beyond the pandemic. Considering the context of a pandemic as a starting point, we defend in this article the thesis that contours of public controversy involving COVID-19 bring elements that allow us to argue that Science Education needs to embrace perspectives that highlight politics as co-constitutive of science, and not in a subsidiary role to it. To defend this thesis, we begin with a theoretical framework based on arguments of science studies and from exemplary cases from history of science.

This article presents a metalinguistic analysis of the songs comprising the album Quanta by Gilberto Gil, highlighting the dialogical relationships that artistic endeavors can establish between contemporary science and a vision of health. This involves a brief introduction of the theoretical/methodological framework and Bakhtin's metalinguistics, followed by the establishment of three different analytical threads that follow the concepts of science, quantum physics, and health and healing which are present in the album, depicting the complex relationships between art, physics and health.

An analysis is presented of actions taken by the Brazilian research institution Fiocruz for the communication and popularization of science, from two perspectives. The aim was to investigate how a system for the communication and popularization of science is organized at a large scientific institution and how it is articulated with the institutional discourse. A brief review is presented of how the topic has developed over the history of Fiocruz, followed by a discussion of the way it has been addressed in its official planning documents.

Excess weight in adolescents and associated factors: data from the ERICA study.

Objective: To estimate the prevalence of excessive weight and to identify associations with socioeconomic, demographic, biological, and lifestyle factors in adolescents.

Methods: It is a cross-sectional school-based study, with a stratified and complex sample. The evaluated individuals were adolescents (2404), aged 12-17 years old, participating in the Study of Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Adolescents (ERICA).

Background: The Zika virus outbreak has triggered a set of local and global actions for a rapid, effective, and timely public health response. A World Health Organization (WHO) initiative, supported by the Department of Chronic Condition Diseases and Sexually Transmitted Infections (DCCI) of the Health Surveillance Secretariat (SVS), Brazil Ministry of Health (MoH) and other public health funders, resulted in the start of the "Study on the persistence of Zika virus in body fluids of patients with ZIKV infection in Brazil - ZIKABRA study". Pre-existing Immunity to Japanese Encephalitis Virus Alters CD4 T Cell Responses to Zika Virus Inactivated Vaccine.

The epidemic spread of Zika virus (ZIKV), associated with devastating neurologic syndromes, has driven the development of multiple ZIKV vaccines candidates. An effective vaccine should induce ZIKV-specific T cell responses, which are shown to improve the establishment of humoral immunity and contribute to viral clearance. Here we investigated how previous immunization against Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) and yellow fever virus (YFV) influences T cell responses elicited by a Zika purified-inactivated virus (ZPIV) vaccine.

The cardiovascular disease (CVD) process may begin early in life when accompanied by atherosclerotic risk factors. CVD risk factors in children are associated with stiffening of the large elastic arteries, a reflection of subclinical atherosclerosis. Physical activity is a preventative lifestyle strategy that may benefit arterial stiffness by attenuating the hemodynamic stress on the artery wall.

A theorized new class of polyhedral hydrocarbons of molecular formula CH and their bottom-up scaffold expansions into hyperstructures.

We address the use of Euler's theorem and topological algorithms to design 18 polyhedral hydrocarbons of general formula CH that exist up to 28 vertexes containing four- and six-membered rings only; compounds we call "nuggets". Subsequently, we evaluated their energies to verify the likelihood of their chemical existence. Among these compounds, 13 are novel systems, of which 3 exhibit chirality.
