In this study, we report the three-way assembly data of a cannabidiol (CBD)-rich cannabis variety, 'Pink Pepper' cultivar using sequencing technology: PacBio Single Molecule Real-Time (SMRT) technology, Illumina sequencing technology, and Oxford Nanopore Technology (ONT).

Long-term multi-systemic complications following SARS-CoV-2 Omicron and Delta infection in children: a retrospective cohort study.

Objectives: Most studies on long-term sequelae of SARS-CoV-2-infection in children were conducted pre-Omicron and pre-dated vaccination rollout. We examined long-term risk of new-incident multi-systemic sequelae after SARS-CoV-2 Delta/Omicron infection in a multi-ethnic Asian pediatric population.

Prevalence and Outcomes of Orthostatic Hypotension in Hemorrhagic Stroke Patients During Hospitalization.

Background/objectives: Orthostatic hypotension (OH) is highly prevalent in hospitalized patients and can lead to major consequences. The prevalence of OH among patients with stroke has also been reported to be high in in-patient cohorts. However, no previous analysis has focused exclusively on patients with hemorrhagic stroke, a group that may have a different disease profile, including a greater need for blood pressure control and surgical intervention.

Detecting Tumor-Associated Intracranial Hemorrhage Using Proton Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy.

Intracranial hemorrhage associated with primary or metastatic brain tumors is a critical condition that requires urgent intervention, often through open surgery. Nevertheless, surgical interventions may not always be feasible due to two main reasons: (1) extensive hemorrhage can obscure the underlying tumor mass, limiting radiological assessment; and (2) intracranial hemorrhage may occasionally present as the first symptom of a brain tumor without prior knowledge of its existence. The current review of case studies suggests that advanced radiological imaging techniques can improve diagnostic power for tumoral hemorrhage.

The Effects of Resistance Training on Pain, Strength, and Function in Osteoarthritis: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

: Pain is the most common symptom of osteoarthritis (OA), and it leads to functional decline, such as decreased mobility and limitations in activities of daily living, which leads to difficulties in social participation, increased social isolation, and economic burden. Muscle weakness can be a cause of OA symptoms. The purpose was to analyze the effects of resistance training on improving pain, strength, and function in OA and to analyze the effects by intervention duration and joint.

Urinary MicroRNA-21 for Prostate Cancer Detection Using a Silver Nanoparticle Sensor: A Promising Diagnostic Tool.

In this study, we detected the expression levels of miR-21 in 38 clinical urine samples, obtained from 10 patients with PCa (with each sample obtained at three time points: before surgery, 1 month after surgery, and 3 months after surgery), 3 patients with benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH), and 5 healthy subjects (as a control group). All of the samples were examined using a silver nanoparticle-based biosensor, and the sensitivity of the biosensor was simultaneously confirmed via qRT-PCR. The results were further analyzed together with clinical data such as PSA values and cancer stages.

Later-life poverty is a complex issue, particularly in South Korea. This study investigates this puzzling phenomenon, focusing on continuing parental investment and its impact on economic hardship facing older people in the contemporary Korean context. Data were derived from critical document analysis and interviews with 26 participants, including older people experiencing poverty and professional experts.

Comparison of bioelectrical impedance analysis and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry for the diagnosis of sarcopenia in the older adults with metabolic syndrome: equipment-specific equation development.

Objective: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) and sarcopenia together pose significant health risks, increasing frailty, falls, and fractures in older adults. This study compared muscle mass measurements obtained using two different dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) machines and bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), and evaluated the accuracy of these measurements in these older adults.

Methods: In this prospective multicenter cohort study, patients aged ≥ 65 years with MetS had their muscle mass assessed using both BIA and DXA.

Background: Non-surgical method is a treatment option for mandibular condylar fracture; however, it is questionable whether bone fragments are adequately reduced and remodeled. The purpose of this study was to identify three-dimensional positional changes in the mandibular condyles in patients treated non-surgically, analyze factors influencing the extent of positional changes, and evaluate clinical prognosis.

Methods: This retrospective study included 31 patients with unilateral mandibular condylar fractures treated non-surgically at the Ajou University Dental Hospital between 2005 and 2023.

Assessing intrinsic capacity for person-centred HIV care: a cross-sectional study in ageing populations in Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Non-destructive assessment of chilling injury in red pepper powder using short-wave-infrared and XGBoost algorithm.

This study aimed to evaluate red pepper powder quality by the extent of chilling injury and develop a method for detecting chilling injury-affected pepper powder. Pepper powder produced from chilling injury-affected pepper fruits exhibited increased bitter amino acids, microbial counts, and biogenic amines and decreased sweetness index and organic acid levels. These quality deteriorations indicate the need to detect chilling injury in pepper powders.

It's essential for healthcare professionals, especially nurses to identify caregivers at risk of stress and depression, triggering prompt management during their contact with caregivers of PWD. The study team developed an evidence-based caregiver burden-mastery hybrid assessment and intervention decision matrix (CHAT-MI) for caregivers of PWD and examined its feasibility of use.

Trifluoroacetic Acid as a Molecular Probe for the Dense Phase in Liquid-Liquid Phase-Separating Peptide Systems.

Although trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is not typically considered a Hofmeister reagent, it has been demonstrated to modulate biocoacervation. We show that TFA can be employed to probe specific interactions in coacervating bioinspired peptide phenylalanine (Phe) F-labeled at a single site, altering its liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) behavior. Solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy revealed two dynamically distinct binding modes of TFA with Phe, resulting in a structured, dipolar-ordered complex and a more dynamic complex, highlighting the proximity between TFA and Phe.

Didecyldimethylammonium chloride-induced lung fibrosis may be associated with phospholipidosis.

In the current study, we dosed Didecyldimethylammonium chloride (DDAC) in mice by pharyngeal aspiration for 28 days or 90 days (weekly) and tried to elucidate the relationship between lamellar body formation and the lesions. When exposed for 28 days (0, 5, 10, 50, and 100 μg/head), all the mice in the 50 and 100 μg/head groups died since Day 2 after the third dosing (Day 16 after the first dosing). Edema, necrosis of bronchiolar and alveolar epithelium, and fibrinous exudate were observed in the lungs of all the dead mice, and chronic inflammatory lesions were observed in the lung tissues of alive mice.

Patients were divided into two groups based on the degree of footprint coverage achieved: Group C (complete coverage) and Group I (incomplete coverage).
