Objectives: The goal of this study was to gather information on treatment approaches and trends for the treatment of non-obstructive feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC).

Methods: An internet-based survey of veterinarians was conducted focusing on outpatient treatment approaches for cats that are stable, not obstructed and that exhibit lower urinary signs suspected to be due to FIC, where other causes (eg, urolithiasis, urinary tract infection, other) have been ruled out.

We present a comprehensive exploration of loop-gap resonators for electron spin resonance (ESR) studies, enabling investigations into the hybridization of solid-state magnetic materials with microwave polariton modes. The experimental setup, implemented in aby Quantum Design, allows for measurements of ESR spectra at temperatures as low as 2 Kelvin. The versatility of continuous wave ESR spectroscopy is demonstrated through experiments on CuSO4⋅5HO and MgCrO, showcasing the g-tensor and magnetic susceptibilities of these materials.

Purpose: Our preclinical studies showed that lycopene enhanced the anti-prostate cancer efficacy of docetaxel in animal models. A phase I trial (NCT0149519) was conducted to identify an optimum dose of synthetic lycopene in combination with docetaxel (and androgen blockade [androgen deprivation therapy, ADT]), and to evaluate its effect on the safety and pharmacokinetics of docetaxel in men with metastatic prostate cancer.

The microphthalmia bHLH-LZ transcription factors (MiT/TFEs) family members MITF, TFEB, and TFE3 promote the transcription of lysosomal and autophagic genes and are often deregulated in cancer. Microbial communities in hybrid linear flow channel reactors and anaerobic sequencing batch reactors operated in series for remediation and beneficiation of tannery wastewater were assessed. Despite concurrent sulfidogenesis, more intensive pre-treatment in hybrid linear flow channel reactors reduced methanogenic inhibition usually associated with anaerobic digestion of tannery effluent and promoted efficiency (max 321 mLCH/gCOD, 59% biogas CH). Nitrification and biological sulfate reduction were key metabolic pathways involved in overall and sulfate reducing bacterial community selection, respectively, during pre-treatment.
