The study aimed to assess the prevalence and characteristics of gestational anemia in pregnant women receiving care in Quindío, Colombia, and to identify risk factors linked to the condition.
A total of 307 out of 1,003 women, aged 18 and older, were selected for analysis, revealing a 26.38% prevalence of gestational anemia, which was notably higher at 41.97% during the third trimester.
Key risk factors identified included a low body mass index (BMI < 18.5), having multiple pregnancies, and a history of pregestational anemia, emphasizing the need for preventive measures in prenatal care.
