Background: Autogenous arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is the preferred vascular access mode. However, the earliest possible time for AVF puncture and whether premature puncture affects the AVF patency rate remain unclear.

Methods: In this multicenter retrospective cohort study, adult uremic patients who underwent AVF surgery for the first time at Taizhou Hospital or Enze Hospital of Zhejiang Province between September 1, 2018 and August 31, 2021 were enrolled.

Article Synopsis
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease that can present with varied symptoms, particularly more atypical ones in children compared to adults.
  • A rare case is highlighted involving a young boy with SLE who also suffered from Fanconi syndrome and renal tubular acidosis, leading to significant health issues like weakness and malnutrition.
  • The child was successfully treated with a combination of medications, including corticosteroids and mycophenolate mofetil, and the report emphasizes the need for awareness of atypical SLE in pediatric cases to prevent diagnostic errors.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on the limitations of existing NMR methods in determining the relative configuration of hydrogen atoms (H-7 and H-8) in 8,4'-oxyneolignans.
  • It introduces extended NMR methods (Δδ methods) that aim to overcome these challenges, which were validated through various analytical techniques.
  • The findings suggest that the relative configurations of previously studied 8,4'-oxyneolignan derivatives may need to be reassessed based on the new insights provided by the research.

Nine tetrahydrofuran lignans, including three undescribed spiro-lignans, were isolated from Isatis indigotica Fortune (Brassicaceae). Extensive spectroscopic analyses achieved the structure elucidation of these tetrahydrofuran lignans, and quantum chemical calculation combined with the MAE parameter. Notably, isatispironeols A-B have a unique spiro[dienone-tetrahydrofuran] molecular core.

Four new terpenoids, solanoids F - I (1-4), together with eleven known compounds (5-15), were isolated from the whole herb of Solanum lyratum. The chemical structures were characterized by spectroscopic techniques, and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) data analysis was adopted to confirm the absolute configurations of 1-4. Compounds 1-6, 8 and 12-15 exhibited neuroprotective effects against HO-induced oxidative damage of human SH-SY5Y cells.

Osimertinib is recommended either as the first-line therapy for sensitizing EGFR-mutations (FLAURA trial) or at progression to first-/second-generation EGFR inhibitors in the presence of resistance mutation T790M (AURA 3 study). It can effectively improve the prognosis of patients with NSCLC with manageable adverse reactions. Among adverse events, intestinal haemorrhage is rare and requires extensive study on its potential lethality.

Cumulative evidence indicates that mitochondria dysfunction plays an important role in tumour treatment. Given the limited efficacy and toxicity of current mitochondria-targeted drugs, research into effective mitochondria-targeted anticancer agents remains an irresistible general trend. In this study, it was found that dehydrocrenatidine (DEC), a β-carbolin alkaloid isolated from Picrasma quassiodes, displays a promising growth inhibitory effect in vitro and in vivo by inducing apoptosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells.

Seven alkaloids including five undescribed ones (1a/1b, 2, 3 and 5) were obtained from the leaves of Isatis indigotica Fortune. Their structures were established by extensive spectroscopic analyses. The absolute configurations of compounds 1a, 1b, 3 and 5 were determined by comparison of the experimental and calculated electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra.

Background: Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers among females worldwide and advanced patients have extremely poor prognosis. However, adverse reactions and accumulating resistance to radiation therapy require further investigation.

Methods: The expression levels of mitogen-activated protein kinase 4 (MAPK4) mRNA were analyzed by real-time PCR and its association with overall survival was analyzed using Kaplan-Mier method.

Background: Dry eye symptom threatens human health and causes a larger burden of disease, the study aims to systematically compare the therapeutic effect of Lycium-rehmannia pills combined with topical eye drops and pure western medicine (western medicine eye drops) on dry eye symptom, to provide a reflection and enlightenment for clinical treatment.

Method: PubMed, The Cochrane Library, EMbase, MEDLINE, CBM, WanFang, VIP, and CNKI databases were searched manually and automatically by the computer until March 2019 and relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were selected. Article selection and data extraction were conducted by 2 researchers independently, then RevMan 5.

Here, we aimed to investigate the role of Xanthatin in asthma and its underlying mechanism. BALB/c mice were treated with ovalbumin (OVA) to establis a mouse model of asthma. Our results showed that OVA injection significantly increased inflammatory cell infiltration and goblet cell hyperplasia in lung issues, while Xanthatin treatment and STAT3 inhibitor C188-9 administration relieved these symptoms.

Rationale: Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) can be complicated with Crohn disease (CD). Irritable bowel disease (IBD) associated with MDS has already been reported in the past; however, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is rarely performed. Herein, we report a case of CD with MDS for HSCT.

miR-363-3p is downregulated in lung adenocarcinoma and can inhibit tumor growth. Here, we aimed to investigate the effect of miR-363-3p on non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) metastasis. In our study, miR-363-3p overexpression inhibited cell migration and invasion via epithelial-mesenchymal transition inhibition, while miR-363-3p knockdown exhibited the opposite effects.
