Background: To investigate the association between periodontitis and inflammatory biomarkers, including systemic immune-inflammatory index (SII), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio, and lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio.
Methods: Our study comprised a cross-sectional analysis (an indirect evidence group and a periodontal health control group from January to October 2023) and a retrospective study (a direct evidence group and a non-maintenance group from January 2014 to March 2022). We analyzed demographic data, imaging measurements, and peripheral blood counts.
Bayer red mud is a highly alkaline industrial solid waste generated during alumina production, and its massive discharge and stockpiling poses significant environmental risks. The strong alkalinity of red mud is a primary challenge limiting its effective utilization. This study systematically analyzes the composition and characteristics of alkaline components in red mud, emphasizing the roles of soluble free alkali and chemically bound alkali in regulating its alkalinity.

Both gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) and gingival tissue was collected from 21 healthy control individuals, 21 patients with moderate chronic periodontitis (mCP) and 23 patients with severe chronic periodontitis (sCP). The concentration of MMP-8 in GCF was detected via ELISA and the mRNA levels of β-catenin and MMP-8 in GCF and gingival tissue was detected via reverse transcription-quantitative PCR.
