Very long-term risk of moderate-to-severe postthrombotic syndrome after deep vein thrombosis.

Background: Postthrombotic syndrome (PTS) refers to manifestations of chronic venous insufficiency after a deep vein thrombosis (DVT). The risk of developing moderate-to-severe PTS in the very long term is largely unknown and particularly in case of distal DVT. Furthermore, the impact of DVT vs other causes of chronic venous insufficiency on long-term manifestations of PTS is also unknown.

Recurrent familial case of early childhood sudden death: Complex post mortem genetic investigations.

Introduction: Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) needs to be fully assessed considering its impact on the family, parents and siblings. Inborn Errors of Metabolism (IEM) such as Medium-Chain Acyl-CoA Dehydrogenase Deficiency (MCADD) should be taken into consideration when SUDC occurres. Our aim is to present a family with two successive SUDC and to discuss the post-mortem genetics investigations revealing an IEM implication.

Death due to unsuspected acute myeloid leukaemia: an unusual forensic diagnosis.

Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) is a rare haematologic cancer with a rapid increase in blast cells, which need to be rapidly diagnosed and treated. The aim of this report is to analyse the rare phenomenon of AML diagnosed at autopsy after sudden death. We report three cases of AML and perform a literature review using the mesh terms "sudden death" and "leukaemia".

The Immune Microenvironment of Chordomas: An Immunohistochemical Analysis.

Chordomas are rare sarcomas that are usually treated by surgery and/or radiotherapy since these are chemo-resistant tumors, but immunotherapy could be a possible option for chordoma patients. However, few reports investigating the composition of the chordoma immune microenvironment exist. We immunohistochemically studied 81 chordomas regarding their immune microenvironment factors and compared them with clinicopathological data.

Autophagic Markers in Chordomas: Immunohistochemical Analysis and Comparison with the Immune Microenvironment of Chordoma Tissues.

Chordomas are notably resistant to chemotherapy. One of the cytoprotective mechanisms implicated in chemoresistance is autophagy. There are indirect data that autophagy could be implicated in chordomas, but its presence has not been studied in chordoma tissues.
