The removal of excessive ammonium from water is vital for preventing eutrophication of surface water and ensuring drinking water safety. Several studies have explored the use of biochar for removing ammonium from water. However, the efficacy of pristine biochar is generally weak, and various biochar modification approaches have been proposed to enhance adsorption capacity.

In this study, we aimed to develop novel CS1 CAR-T cells and bispecific CS1-BCMA CAR-T cells to specifically target multiple myeloma. We generated a new CS1 (CD319, SLAM-7) antibody, clone (7A8D5), which specifically recognized the CS1 antigen, and we applied it for the generation of CS1-CAR.

Neurotoxicity testing of environmental chemicals mainly depends on the traditional animal models, which have various limitations such as species differences, expensive and time-consuming. Meanwhile, in vitro two-dimensional (2D) cultured cells or three-dimensional (3D) cultured neurospheres cannot fully simulate complex 3D structure of neural tissues.

Various α-carbonyl alkyl bromides, including α-bromoalkyl esters and ketones, reacted smoothly to provide important azaspirocyclohexadienones in moderate to excellent yields. In addition, mechanistic studies suggested that the reaction proceeded a radical pathway.

Yet, rationally constructed molecules with small molecular weight and reasonable 3 PA cross-section has been rarely reported. Herein, we designed a novel three-photon absorption photostable luminogen (namely X1) with enhanced aggregation induced emission (AIE) and the ability to achieve multi-photon imaging with femtosecond laser excitation.

However, experimental realization of MBL in solid-state systems has remained challenging. Here, we report evidence of a possible phonon MBL phase in disordered GaAs/AlAs superlattices.

Owing to the inherent fluctuations in UED/UEM instruments, obtaining such detailed knowledge requires real-time characterization of the beam properties for each electron bunch. While diagnostics of these properties exist, they are often invasive, and many of them cannot operate at a high repetition rate.

Conventional methods for assessing the toxicity of nanoparticles are usually confined to cultivable cells, but not applicable to viable but non-culturable (VBNC) cells. However, it remains unknown whether silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), a typical antimicrobial agent, could induce bacteria into a VBNC state in natural environments.

Our previous research showed that the POSTN gene is closely related to the malignant progression and poor prognosis of HCC. This study aimed to elucidate the role of POSTN in generating LCSCs and maintaining their stemness as well as the underlying mechanisms.

As a candidate of multiferroic materials, LuFeO with a nominal Fe valence state has the potential for strong charge-spin interactions; however, these interactions have not been fully understood until now. Here, combining complementary characterization methods with theoretical calculations, two types of charge orderings with distinct magnetic properties are revealed.

Arctiin has low bioavailability in the human body and needs to be converted into arctigenin by intestinal microbes before it can be absorbed into the blood. Arctigenin has antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumour effects and its development has important value.

Recent studies have shown that plasmalemma vesicle-associated protein (PLVAP) is related to angiogenesis in various tumors, and in vivo PLVAP targeting therapy has been proven effective against hepatocellular carcinoma and pancreatic cancer. The goal of this study was to determine the potential therapeutic utility of targeting PLVAP and thus angiogenesis in CCA and explore the underlying molecular mechanisms.

Objective: To develop poly(d,l-lactide--glycolide) (PLGA) microspheres to achieve controlled and sustained release of brexpiprazole .
Methods: Brexpiprazole microspheres were prepared by oil-in-water emulsion-solvent evaporation method and evaluated for morphology, particle size, encapsulation efficiency, drug loading, conformation and compatibility of drug and polymer, release, and pharmacokinetics. By establishing the relationship between and release, it helps identify the appropriate release conditions to explore release profiles of brexpiprazole microspheres.
Objectives: This study aims to determine a role of interleukin-17A (IL-17) in salivary gland (SG) dysfunction and therapeutic effects of targeting IL-17 in SG for treating autoimmune sialadenitis in primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS).
Methods: Salivary IL-17 levels and IL-17-secreting cells in labial glands of pSS patients were examined. Kinetic changes of IL-17-producing cells in SG from mice with experimental Sjögren's syndrome (ESS) were analysed.
Objectives: The objective of this study is to describe the clinical features of patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axial SpA) in the ChinaSpA registry.
Methods: Patients with clinical diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis (AS) or axial SpA were enrolled into the registry. Patients with a complete set of pelvis radiograph, pelvis MRI and HLA-B27 (Complete Set group, CS group) were further categorised based on classification criteria into AS, radiographic axial SpA (r-axSpA) and non-radiographic axial SpA (nr-axSpA).
The development of hydrogels that support vascularization to improve the survival of skin flaps, yet establishing homogeneous angiogenic niches without compromising the ease of use in surgical settings remains a challenge. Here, pressure-driven spreadable hydrogels were developed utilizing beta-sheet rich silk nanofiber materials. These silk nanofiber-based hydrogels exhibited excellent spreading under mild pressure to form a thin coating to cover all the regions of the skin flaps.
