As a yeast homolog of mammalian calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII), Cmk2 functions as a negative regulator of calcium signaling in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. We show here that the transcription expression of CMK2 is controlled mainly by the transcription factor Crz1 and also by other factor(s) in response to calcium stress. There are four potential binding sites (calcium/calcineurin-dependent responsive elements; CDREs) for Crz1 in the promoter of CMK2.

Despite significant advances in the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer (CRC), the prognosis for late-stage patients remains poor, highlighting the urgent need for new preventive and therapeutic strategies. Recent studies have focused on the ketogenic diet (KD) and its metabolite, β-hydroxybutyrate (BHB), for their tumor-suppressive effects and modulation of inflammatory responses. Using the azoxymethane (AOM) / dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced mouse CRC model, we found that the ketogenic diet and BHB inhibit pro-tumor N2-type tumor-associated neutrophils (TANs) while promoting the polarization of TANs towards the anti-tumor N1 type.

Cation exchanger (CAX) genes play an important role in plant growth/development and response to biotic and abiotic stresses. Here, we tried to obtain important information on the functionalities and phenotypic effects of CAX gene family by systematic analyses of their expression patterns, genetic diversity (gene CDS haplotypes, structural variations, gene presence/absence variations) in 3010 rice genomes and nine parents of 496 Huanghuazhan introgression lines, the frequency shifts of the predominant gcHaps at these loci to artificial selection during modern breeding, and their association with tolerances to several abiotic stresses.
