The "shuttle effect" and the unchecked growth of lithium dendrites during operation in lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries seriously impact their practical applications. Besides, the performances of Li-S batteries at high current densities and sulfur loadings hold the key to bridge the gap between laboratory research and practical applications. To address the above issues and facilitate the practical utilization of Li-S batteries, the commercial separator is modified with solid electrolyte (nanorod LiAlO, LAO) and conductive carbon (Super P) to obtain a double coated separator (SPLAOMS).

Doxorubicin, an anthracycline commonly used for treating cancer patients, is known for its cardiotoxic side-effects. Although dose-dependent, but susceptibility remains variable among patients, and childhood-exposure-adult-onset remains challenging. Besides topoisomerase toxicity, Doxorubicin is also toxic to the mitochondria yet the underlying late onset mechanism remains elusive.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers developed hpCas13d, an RNA nuclease, to effectively prevent hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in a specific mouse model, but further studies are needed for evaluating its long-term effects and safety.
  • In a series of experiments, neonatal Myh6 mice were treated with AAV-hpCas13d, showing sustained absence of pathogenic Myh6 transcripts and improvements in heart function over 12 months without significant tissue damage or adverse immune reactions.
  • These findings highlight the potential of AAV-hpCas13d as a viable gene therapy option for treating heart diseases, suggesting its readiness for further clinical application.

Background: Danon disease (DD) is a rare X-linked dominant lysosomal storage disorder. Studies on DD pediatric patients are limited owing to the small number of cases and challenges in early detection.

Methods: We retrospectively analysed clinical and genetic data of 29 pediatric patients who visited our hospital for treatment or genetic counselling for DD from July 2014 to December 2023.

Solid-state electrolytes (SSEs) have garnered significant attention as critical materials for enabling safer, energy-dense, and reversible electrochemical energy storage in batteries. Among the various types of solid electrolytes developed, composite polymer electrolytes (CPEs) have stood out as some of the most promising candidates due to their well-rounded performance. In this study, we choose polyethylene glycol (PEG) as the covalent grafting intercalant and lithium perchlorate as carrier source to prepare a fast lithium ion conductor, K-PEG-Li doped with clay-based active filler as a CPE.
