Hydrogels are promising materials for wearable electronics, artificial skins and biomedical engineering, but their limited stretchability, self-recovery and crack resistance restrict their performance in demanding applications. Despite efforts to enhance these properties using micelle cross-links, nanofillers and dynamic interactions, it remains a challenge to fabricate hydrogels that combine high stretchability, self-healing and strong adhesion. Herein, we report a novel hydrogel synthesized the copolymerization of acrylamide (AM), maleic acid (MA) and acrylonitrile (AN), designed to address these limitations.

It is estimated that 1%-2% of pregnancies are complicated by fetal arrhythmias, with most arrhythmias considered benign and not requiring further treatment or intervention. However, persistent tachyarrhythmias can lead to fetal heart failure, preterm birth, stillbirth, and increased risks during the perinatal period. Therefore, timely treatment during pregnancy is often necessary.

Based on the 5615 working face of Beisu Coal Mine, a virtual prototype of the shearer cable drag system was developed using the MG2×70/325-BWD electric traction shearer as the carrier, in combination with CERO and ADAMS software. The shearer cable was equivalently modeled using the discrete rigid body method to study the dynamic characteristics of the drag system. This research provides a foundation for the design and optimization of both the cable and cable clamps.

Diabetic kidney disease (DKD), one of the most prevalent microvascular complications of diabetes, arises from dysregulated glucose and lipid metabolism induced by hyperglycemia, resulting in the deterioration of renal cells such as podocytes and tubular epithelial cells. Programmed cell death (PCD), comprising apoptosis, autophagy, ferroptosis, pyroptosis, and necroptosis, represents a spectrum of cell demise processes intricately governed by genetic mechanisms in vivo. Under physiological conditions, PCD facilitates the turnover of cellular populations and serves as a protective mechanism to eliminate impaired podocytes or tubular epithelial cells, thereby preserving renal tissue homeostasis amidst hyperglycemic stress.

In order to investigate the dynamic characteristics and fatigue life of the roadheader's gyration platform during the cutting process, the calculation of the cutting head load was achieved based on the force and its transformation of cutting pick, and the transient loads in the two lateral swing directions of the roadheader were calculated. Subsequently, the simulated load was applied to the multi-body model of the cutting section, and dynamic simulations were conducted. Critical information, including stress and strain distribution, as well as the maximum stress on the gyration platform, was extracted from these simulations.

The roles of innate and adaptive immunity are crucial in both the development of cancer and its response to treatment. Numerous studies have demonstrated that histone lysine-specific demethylase 1 (LSD1) is overexpressed in various cancers. Elevated levels of LSD1 intricately modulate immune checkpoints, the function of immune cells, and the expression of immunomodulators, impacting both innate and adaptive immunity.

Astrocytes derive from different lineages and play a critical role in neuropathic pain after spinal cord injury (SCI). Whether selectively eliminating these main origins of astrocytes in lumbar enlargement could attenuate SCI-induced neuropathic pain remains unclear. Through transgenic mice injected with an adeno-associated virus vector and diphtheria toxin, astrocytes in lumbar enlargement were lineage traced, targeted, and selectively eliminated.

Many studies have reported the relationship between eating rate and childhood overweight/obesity, while results remain inconclusive. The present study was done to estimate the association between eating rate and childhood overweight/obesity through a systematic review of prevalence studies. Relevant studies were searched by two independent researchers in databases including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science, and data were collected from relevant studies published through June 2023 using predefined inclusion/exclusion criteria.

To ensure that the discrete element model of the coal wall accurately reflects the actual cutting process of coal and rock during virtual prototype simulation of mining equipment, this study aims to expedite the development of intelligent mining machinery. Using coal samples from the 4602 working face of Yangcun Coal Mine, operated by Yanzhou Coal Mining Group, we conducted coal rock packing experiments and uniaxial compression tests to obtain the packing angle and compressive strength of the coal samples. Based on the experimental results, we designed Plackett-Burman experiments (PB experiments), steepest ascent experiments, and Box-Behnken experiments to study the influence of particle contact mechanics parameters and bonding mechanics parameters on the packing angle and compressive strength, using the packing angle and compressive strength as response variables.

Piperine has been reported to inhibit the enzyme activity of cytochrome P450 (CYP) 3A4. The aim of this study was to develop and validate a physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model for piperine and to predict potential food-drug interactions (FDIs) between piperine and CYP3A4 substrate drugs using these models. The PBPK model for piperine was successfully developed and validated.

We investigate the structures and properties of GeC and GeCH clusters using anion photoelectron spectroscopy and theoretical calculations. Our calculations show that the first two low-lying isomers coexist in the experiments of GeC and GeCH. The first two low-lying isomers of GeC have trigonal bipyramidal structures with the C atom on the equatorial plane and the top vertex, respectively.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are non-coding RNAs that exert vital function in many human diseases, including preeclampsia (PE). Circ_0015382 is considered to be a key regulator of PE progression, so more molecular mechanisms need to be further studied. Real-time quantitative PCR was used to detect the mRNA levels of circ_0015382, miR-942-5p, and N-myc downstream regulated 1 (NDRG1).

Objective: To determine the percentile reference values and reference curves of total body fat percentage in children and adolescents by sex and age, and to evaluate the reliability of different anthropometric indicators in screening for obesity in children and adolescents in order to explore the validity and practicality of a large-scale screening tool for childhood obesity and its desirable thresholds.

Methods: A total of 5983 children and adolescents aged 6-18 years from six primary and secondary schools were selected by stratified randomised cluster sampling in Hangzhou City in 2023, and their weight, height, waist and hip circumferences were measured, and the children's total body fat content was measured using the bioelectrical resistance-antibody composition analyser. A generalised additive model(GAMLSS) was used to construct a percentile reference curve for children's body fat percentage, and the performance of each anthropometric measure in correctly classifying children and adolescents as obese was assessed using receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curves.

Patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) often suffer from varying degrees of neuropathic pain. Non-invasive repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) has been shown to improve neuropathic pain, while the appropriate intervention strategies of TMS treatment and how TMS affects brain function after SCI were not entirely clear. To investigate the effects and mechanisms of TMS on neuropathic pain after SCI, high-frequency TMS on primary motor cortex (M1) of mice was performed after SCI and pain response was evaluated through an electronic Von-Frey device and cold/hot plates.
