Lactose is one of the most commonly used tablet diluents and fillers. However, the moisture sorption of lactose powder could exert detrimental effects on the excipient itself, as well as on the tablet quality. The effects of storage relative humidity (RH) conditions for different grades of lactose powders and tablets on compression behavior and tablet qualities were investigated.

Here, we show that vitamin E succinate (VES) acts as a degrader for the mA RNA demethylase fat mass and obesity-associated protein (FTO), thus suppressing tumor growth and resistance to immunotherapy. FTO is ubiquitinated by its E3 ligase DTX2, followed by UFD1 recruitment and subsequent degradation in the proteasome. VES binds to FTO and DTX2, leading to enhanced FTO-DTX2 interaction, FTO ubiquitination, and degradation in FTO-dependent tumor cells.

  • - TET2 gene mutations lead to myeloid malignancies by causing an open chromatin state, activating stem cell self-renewal genes, and disrupting normal DNA methylation processes.
  • - The study highlights how TET2 interacts with chromatin-associated retrotransposon RNA 5-methylcytosine (mC) and the protein MBD6 to control histone modifications that influence chromatin structure.
  • - Depleting MBD6 in TET2-deficient cells can block malignant cell proliferation and reverse some of the harmful effects of TET2 loss, indicating a potential target for therapies aimed at TET2 mutation-related cancers.

  • Cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase (CAD) is important for lignin biosynthesis, and researchers identified 10 CAD genes in tobacco, emphasizing limited prior knowledge about this gene family in the plant.
  • The study found that the tobacco CADs displayed high sequence similarity and conserved binding motifs, with NtCAD1 and NtCAD2 showing strong connections to the lignin production process.
  • Functional analysis revealed that NtCAD1-1 and NtCAD1-2 are key players in lignin synthesis, while NtCAD2 responds mainly to stress conditions, suggesting distinct but overlapping roles for these CAD genes in tobacco.

Discoidin domain receptor 1 (DDR1) is a potential target for cancer drug discovery. Although several DDR1 kinase inhibitors have been developed, recent studies have revealed the critical roles of the noncatalytic functions of DDR1 in tumor progression, metastasis, and immune exclusion. Degradation of DDR1 presents an opportunity to block its noncatalytic functions.

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by high blood glucose levels, which can cause many diseases, including osteoporosis, fractures, arthritis, and foot complications. The inhibitors of dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4), an enzyme involved in glucose metabolism regulation, are essential for managing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). The inhibition of DPP-4 has become a promising treatment approach for T2DM because it can increase levels of active glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), leading to improved insulin secretion in response to glucose and reduced release of glucagon.

Microplastics (MPs) pose a threat to farmland soil quality and crop safety. MPs exist widely in food legumes farmland soil due to the extensive use of agricultural film and organic fertilizer, but their distribution characteristics and their impact on soil environment have not been reported. The abundance and characteristics of MPs, soil physical and chemical properties, and bacterial community composition were investigated in 76 soil samples from five provinces in northern China.

  • SGLT2 inhibitors are drugs designed to help manage type 2 diabetes by preventing the kidneys from reabsorbing glucose, leading to increased glucose loss in urine and lower blood sugar levels.
  • Commonly known SGLT2 inhibitors include Dapagliflozin, Canagliflozin, and Empagliflozin, all of which have been approved for clinical use.
  • Beyond blood sugar control, these medications may aid in weight loss, reduce blood pressure, and lower the risk of heart and kidney issues in patients with T2DM.
