Faraday cages are extensively utilized in plasma-based etching and deposition processes to regulate ion behavior due to their shielding effect on electromagnetic fields. Herein, vertical silicon nanopillar arrays are fabricated through SF and O reactive ion etching. By incorporation of a Faraday cage in the plasma equipment, the impact of the Faraday cage on the morphology of the silicon nanopillars is analyzed; the Faraday cage blocks out the sputtered particles and eradicates the formation of silicon nanograss.

We investigated the protective effect and mechanism of selenium-enriched yeast (SY) on caecal injury induced by ochratoxin A (OTA) in broilers. Eighty broiler chickens of 1-day-old with similar weight were randomly assigned to Control group, OTA group, SY group and OTA + SY group, and were intragastricaly administered with OTA and SY for 21 consecutive days. The results showed that SY could reduce the caecal pathological injuries and could inhibit oxidative stress caused by OTA exposure.

The aim of the present study was to investigate whether curcumin (CUR) can ameliorate cadmium-induced reproductive toxicity and its mechanism. A total of 48 male mice were equally divided into 4 groups: control, CdCl (2 mg/kg, intraperitoneally inject) curcumin (50 mg/kg, intraperitoneally inject), co-treatment with curcumin (50 mg/kg), and CdCl (2 mg/kg) for 10 days. The results demonstrated that CdCl reduces sperm motility, decreases the sperm density and serum testosterone content, and significantly improves the rate of sperm deformity.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the potential chemoprotective effects of proanthocyanidins (PAs) against cadmium (Cd)-induced oxidative damage of testes via Nrf2-Keap1 signal pathway in rats. Briefly, by using biochemical histological analysis, as well as the real time PCR and western blot approach, oxidative damage in rat testicular tissue was observed after exposure to Cd. In addition, significant down-regulations of mRNA and protein levels of nuclear erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1), γ-glutamyl cysteine synthetase (γ-GCS), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1), as well as a significant up-regulation of Kelch sample related protein-1 (Keap1) levels in testicular tissue were observed after Cd exposure.
