Objectives: To evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of adenovirus type 5 vectored COVID-19 vaccine (Ad5-nCoV), by intradermal immunization with a needle-free injector in rats.
Methods: This study was divided into two parts. In study A, 105 rats were randomly assigned to seven groups, to receive the low-dose, medium-dose, or high-dose vaccine by needle-free intradermal injections (NFI), or needle-based intramuscular injections (NI), or needle-free intradermal injections with saline solution as a control group.
Introduction: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is characterized by fever, fatigue, dry cough, dyspnea, mild pneumonia and acute lung injury (ALI), which can lead to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and SARS-CoV-2 can accelerate tumor progression. However, the molecular mechanism for the increased mortality in cancer patients infected with COVID-19 is unclear.
Methods: Colony formation and wound healing assays were performed on Huh-7 cells cocultured with syncytia.
We administered a questionnaire to participants who received different vaccination regimens to evaluate the effectiveness of Ad5-vectored COVID-19 vaccines. The results showed that administration of intramuscular Ad5-nCoV provided 21.32% more protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection than that of the inactivated COVID-19 vaccine in people who had received only one type of COVID-19 vaccine.

Non-natural building blocks (BBs) present a vast reservoir of chemical diversity for molecular recognition and drug discovery. However, leveraging evolutionary principles to efficiently generate bioactive molecules with a larger number of diverse BBs poses challenges within current laboratory evolution systems. Here, we introduce programmable chemical evolution (PCEvo) by integrating chemoinformatic classification and high-throughput array synthesis/screening.

To date, how Ad5-vectored vaccines are influenced by preexisting anti-Ad5 antibodies during activation of the early immune response remains unclear. Here, we investigated the specific alterations in GP-specific IgG-related elements of the early immune response at the genetic, molecular, and cellular levels on days 0, 1, 3, and 7 after Ad5-EBOV vaccination.

Differentiating MMD from AS-MMV helps to choose the appropriate treatment.
Purpose: To investigate the feasibility of a nomogram based on high-resolution vessel wall (HR-VWI) MRI features to differentiate MMD from AS-MMV.
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder affecting millions of people worldwide, characterized by dysregulated glucose homeostasis and hyperglycemia. Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the serious multisystemic complications. Aging is an important risk factor for DR.

Polysaccharides isolated from traditional Chinese medicine are considered novel vaccine adjuvant sources.

This work aims to optimize key steps of the soy sauce fermentation process to improve its stability and reduce precipitation. The amino acid nitrogen (AAN) and the total nitrogen (TN) contents of the new soy sauce were 8.

Vaccination strategies that can induce a broad spectrum immune response are important to enhance protection against SARS-CoV-2 variants. We conducted a randomized, double-blind and parallel controlled trial to evaluate the safety and immunogenicity of the bivalent (5×10viral particles) and B.1.

Here, we described a CRISPR-based diagnostic for the detection of Plasmodium falciparum, the deadliest and most prevalent species of malaria parasite in Africa, via lateral flow strip readout without the need of nucleic acid extraction. The assay exhibited 100% sensitivity on clinical samples (5 P falciparum) and significant consistency with qPCR test on asymptomatic infection samples (49 P falciparum and 51 non-P.

Methods: We have conducted a non-randomized, open-label and parallel-controlled phase 4 trial to evaluate the magnitude and longevity of immune responses to booster vaccination with intramuscular adenovirus vectored vaccine (Ad5-nCoV), aerosolized Ad5-nCoV, a recombinant protein subunit vaccine (ZF2001) or homologous inactivated vaccine (CoronaVac) in those who received two doses of inactivated COVID-19 vaccines.
Results: The aerosolized Ad5-nCoV induced the most robust and long-lasting neutralizing activity against Omicron variant and IFNg T-cell response among all the boosters, with a distinct mucosal immune response.

The swelling of soy sauce bags seriously affects product quality and causes food safety problems, which has become an urgent problem to solve in the condiment industry. Here, gas-producing bacteria in the swollen bagged soy sauce were isolated and identified to provide an effective control method for inhibiting their growth and solving the swelling of soy sauce bags. It was found that three gas-producing bacteria isolated from the swollen bagged soy sauce were confirmed as Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (G1), Bacillus sp.
