The concept of gait synergy provides novel human-machine interfaces and has been applied to the control of lower limb assistive devices, such as powered prostheses and exoskeletons. Specifically, on the basis of gait synergy, the assistive device can generate/predict the appropriate reference trajectories precisely for the affected or missing parts from the motions of sound parts of the patients. Optimal modeling for gait synergy methods that involves optimal combinations of features (inputs) is required to achieve synergic trajectories that improve human-machine interaction.

Chronic cadmium (Cd) exposure contributes to the progression of atherosclerosis, but the direct role of Cd and its mechanisms in atherosclerosis remains incompletely understood. Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease promoting macrophage polarization to M1 phenotype and producing pro-inflammations that are vital in regulating the inflammatory response. Herein, through a case-control study, we found that Cd exposure may promote the occurrence of carotid plaque via inflammation, where interleukin-6 (IL-6) may play an important role.

Primordial germ cells (PGCs) are precursors of sperms and oocytes and responsible for passing the genetic information from one generation to the next. Chicken PGCs segregate from somatic cells in early embryo and could be isolated and cultured in vitro, making it a useful tool to produce genetically modified animals. However, the number of PGCs isolated from embryo is limited and these cells are not efficient to proliferation in vitro.
