To address the problems that exist in the target detection of vehicle-mounted visual sensors in foggy environments, a vehicle target detection method based on an improved YOLOX network is proposed. Firstly, to address the issue of vehicle target feature loss in foggy traffic scene images, specific characteristics of fog-affected imagery are integrated into the network training process. This not only augments the training data but also improves the robustness of the network in foggy environments.

Chirality transfer from chiral molecules to chiral nanomaterials represents an important topic for exploring the origin of chirality in many natural and artificial systems. Moreover, developing a promising class of chiral nanomaterials holds great significance for various applications, including sensing, photonics, catalysis, and biomedicine. Here we demonstrate the geometric control and tunable optical chirality of chiral pentatwinned Au nanoparticles with 5-fold rotational symmetry using the seed-mediated chiral growth method.

Article Synopsis
  • The summer Eurasian westerly jet is becoming weaker and wavier, leading to more frequent weather extremes, though the main cause is still under debate.
  • A significant 140% increase in interannual variability of the East Asian jet (EAJ) since the late 20th century is linked to changes in large-scale circulation patterns across Eurasia, resulting in notable climate impacts like heatwaves and monsoon shifts.
  • The Scandinavian pattern from February plays a major role in this variability, suggesting a connection between oceanic and atmospheric conditions, although advanced climate models don't show similar circulation changes, indicating that much of the EAJ's recent variability may be due to natural fluctuations rather than human activity.

Background: Distinguishing between benign and malignant thyroid nodules remains difficult. Ultrasound has been established as a non-invasive and relatively simple imaging technique for thyroid nodules. This study aimed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of conventional ultrasound and ultrasound elastography for the differentiation between benign and malignant thyroid nodules by meta-analyzing published studies.

In this study, a combined process was developed that included flocculation, Fenton oxidation and sequencing batch reactor (SBR) to treat oilfield fracturing wastewater (FW). Flocculation and Fenton oxidation were applied to reduce chemical oxygen demand (COD) organic load and to enhance biodegradability, respectively. For flocculation, the optimum conditions were: polymeric aluminium chloride dosage, 40 mg/L; polyacrylamide dosage, 4 mg/L; dilution ratio, 1:2 and stirring time, 30 min.
