Gray mold caused by Botrytis cinerea is the most important disease in postharvest tomato fruit. Inducing resistance to fungal pathogens in the harvested fruit and vegetable is a promising approach to control postharvest losses. In the present study, the effect of l-glutamate on induction of resistance to B.

The present study characterized a cell wall chitin from Saccharomyces cerevisiae and investigated the effect of a postharvest chitin treatment on disease resistance against Botrytis cinerea infection in tomato fruit and the possible mechanisms involved. The results indicated that treatment with chitin could effectively induce strong resistance against gray mold rot caused by B. cinerea in tomato fruit.

Upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) provide an ideal platform for achieving multifunction, such as multimodal imaging, sensing, therapy, etc., mainly by combining with other nanomaterials to construct complicated heterogeneous nanostructures. Multifunctional integration on a simple single-phase structure still is an open question and poses a big challenge.
