A Co-doped porous carbon was successfully fabricated by a facile carbonizing procedure using coal hydrogasification semi-coke (SC) as the carbon and cobalt nitrate as the magnetic precursors, respectively. The mass ratio of the precursors was changed to regulate the microwave absorption (MA) capabilities. The favorable MA capabilities are a result of a synergistic interaction be-tween the dielectric loss from the carbon framework, the magnetic loss from nano-sized Co particles, and multiple scattering from the residual pores.

Surface hydrophobicity of organisms provides biological self-protection. The hydrophobicity of pest surface, acting as a main obstacle for the pest control, can lead to low utilization and high loss of pesticides. Dermanyssus gallinae is a notorious pest in egg-laying hens, whose control primarily depends on acaricide spraying, while its surface hydrophobicity and potential influence on pesticide effectiveness are not clear.

Institutional controls, as an important measure for risk management of contaminated sites, is widely used in site management by the United States, Canada and European countries. At present, some regions in China have also begun to explore the implementation of institutional controls, but its path, safeguard mechanism, and tracking evaluation are still unclear. Based on China's unique contaminated site remediation control system and land management system, this paper proposes a framework for the whole life cycle institutional controls of China's contaminated sites: (1) evaluate the need for institutional controls; (2) establish the objectives of institutional controls; (3) identify the restrictive requirements of institutional controls; (4) establish the implementation form of institutional controls; and (5) regularly review the effectiveness of institutional controls.

Article Synopsis
  • TCRαβ+ CD4- CD8- double-negative T (DNT) cells are found in small numbers in blood and have mostly been studied for their roles in inflammation and autoimmune diseases, but their involvement in tumors is less understood.
  • In colorectal cancer, DNT cells were more abundant in tumor tissues compared to nearby lymph nodes, particularly in tumors with low T cell presence, suggesting they might come from CD8+ T cells.
  • Analysis revealed that DNT cells resemble central memory CD8+ T cells and show changes in gene expression, indicating they might suppress anti-tumor immune responses instead of enhancing them.
