Validity and Reliability of the Amharic Version of EORTC QLQ-OG25 Among Esophagogastric Cancer Patients in Ethiopia.

Background: Cancers of the stomach and esophagus are the fourth and sixth most common causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide, respectively. Although various tools have been developed to assess the quality of life of patients with esophagogastric cancer, EORTC QLQ-C30 and EORTC QLQ-OG25 are the most used all over the world. However, they have not been validated in an Ethiopian context.

Cancer Care Terminology in African Languages.

Importance: Effective communication between patients and health care teams is essential in the health care setting for delivering optimal cancer care and increasing cancer awareness. While the significance of communication in health care is widely acknowledged, the topic is largely understudied within African settings.

Objective: To assess how the medical language of cancer and oncology translates into African languages and what these translations mean within their cultural context.

Validity and Reliability of the Amharic Version of EORTC-QLQ-CR29 Among Colorectal Cancer Patients in Ethiopia.

Background: The European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer - Quality of Life Questionnaire (EORTC-QLQ) developed to assess quality of life among colorectal cancer patients has not been translated into a local language or validated in the Ethiopian context. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the EORTC-QLQ-CR29 tool in Ethiopia among colorectal cancer patients.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in a major referral hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from March to May, 2020.

Implementing a Social Accountability Approach for Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health Service Performances in Ethiopia: A Pre-Post Study Design.

Background: Social accountability approaches, such as the community scorecard (CSC), can improve the performance of health systems in low-income countries by providing a mechanism for obtaining and incorporating community input. This longitudinal study assessed the effects of CSCs implemented by primary health care units (PHCUs) on health system performance in Ethiopia.

Methods: This study used a pre-post design and was conducted from October 2018 to September 2019 in 159 PHCUs in 31 districts in Amhara and Southern, Nations, Nationalities and Peoples' regional states.
