[Clinical and epidemiologic assessment of a group of patients suffering from mumps, hospitalized in a 23 years period].

Authors present the results of the evaluation of some epidemiological and clinical parameters, on a sample of 2101 inpatients suffering from mumps, hospitalized in the Clinic of Infectious Diseases Iaşi, between 1981-2003. The annual hospitalization average was of 5.7%.

[Prospective epidemiologic research on the morbidity with epidemic parotitis, in the Iaşi district, between 1982-2003].

Authors present the results of an epidemiological prospective study, carried out on a sample of 35981 cases of epidemic parotitis, recorded in the Iasi District, between 1982-2003. The study highlights the fact that epidemic parotitis represents a major health problem, with important medical consequences, unfavourable both because of its morbidity, sometimes epidemics, and because of its complications. Epidemic parotitis was spotted both in the urban and rural area, having an increased incidence during the seasons with low temperature and affecting especially the 5-9-year age group.
