Article Synopsis
  • Heart transplantation is a major surgical option for patients with severe heart failure, as drug therapy often fails to maintain quality of life.
  • The study analyzed 21 patients who underwent heart transplantation from 2001 to 2005, noting significant reductions in lung capacity and muscle strength immediately post-surgery, which recovered by the 14th day post-op.
  • Results indicated that, despite initial declines in respiratory function, patients experienced improved functionality by the two-week mark, suggesting effective recovery and rehabilitation processes following heart transplantation.
