Cell metabolism is an indispensable biochemical process that provides the basic energy and materials necessary for normal cell function. Accumulating evidence implicates abnormal metabolism of T cells as playing a critical role in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The deacetylase SIRT3 has been shown to directly regulate energy metabolism in nonimmune cells.

Methods: The PRESS trial is a multicentre, 33-week, open-label, three-arm, non-inferiority designed, randomised controlled trial. SLE patients with sustained clinically inactive disease who maintained on low-dose GC plus HCQ therapy were screened and qualified patients were randomly assigned to three groups: drug-free group (both GC and HCQ withdrew); HCQ group (discontinued GC but maintained HCQ); dual maintenance group (both GC and HCQ continued).
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the mortality, survival rates, and prognostic indicators of cancer occurrence after Sjögren's syndrome (SS-CA).
Methods: The medical records of patients with SS-CA at the Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) between January 2010 and August 2022 were retrieved. Clinical data and survival outcomes were compared to controls.

Objectives: Idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis (IRF) is a rare autoimmune-mediated condition characterized by fibro-inflammatory tissue development around the abdominal aorta and iliac arteries. Ureteral entrapment and hydronephrosis are the most common manifestations and acute renal failure or chronic renal insufficiency may occur as the consequence. Glucocorticoids and immunosuppressants may be effective but the therapeutic response and outcome are heterogeneous and hard to predict.

Selecting effective models to simulate the tumor microenvironment to study the physiological processes of tumorigenesis and progression is extremely important and challenging. Currently, three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting technology makes it possible to replicate a physiologically relevant tumor microenvironment and induce genomic and proteomic expression to better mimic tumors .

However, their ability to detect low-abundance analytes in complex biological samples is often compromised by limited amplification depth and severe signal leakage. To address these challenges, we developed a simple yet highly efficient strategy to engineer a self-replicating bipedal DNAzyme (SEDY) walker for sensitive and selective electrochemiluminescence (ECL) bioanalysis.

Pharmacological inhibition of Skp2 has exhibited promising antitumor activity. Herein, we present the design and optimization of a series of [1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-]pyrimidine-based small molecules targeting Skp2.

Methods: The percentage of DN T cells as well as the expression of CD226 and TIGIT was identified by flowmetry. After in vitro stimulation, we further detected the expression of activation and cytotoxic marker, as well as intracellular cytokines secreted by DN T cells.
Primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) is a prevalent autoimmune disorder wherein CD4 T cells play a pivotal role in its pathogenesis. However, the underlying mechanisms driving the hyperactivity of CD4 T cells in pSS remain poorly understood. This study aimed to investigate the potential role of immunometabolic alterations in driving the hyperactivity of CD4 T cells in pSS.

Herein, we designed a self-driven close-looped DNAzyme walker (cl-DW) with high structural biostability and catalytic activity that enabled rapid electrochemiluminescence (ECL) detection of pesticide residue acetamiprid. Specifically, cl-DW exhibited increasing ability to resist nuclease degradation with a 570-fold longer half-degradation time than that of the single-stranded DNAzyme walker (ss-DW) due to the protected DNA terminal.

Methods: A total of 60 RD patients in our center from March 2023 to August 2023 were enrolled. The patients were divided into latent CMV infection and active CMV infection, the latter was classified as subclinical CMV infection or CMV disease based on presence or absence of symptoms related to CMV.
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical traits and consequences of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) complicated by active cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection.
Methods: This retrospective review involved the examination of medical records for patients diagnosed with SLE who had an active CMV infection at the time of their discharge from Peking Union Medical College Hospital between June 2016 and December 2022. The consistency between plasma CMV deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) viral load and pp65 antigenemia was analyzed using the chi-square test.
Inflammatory arthritis (IA) is a common rheumatic adverse event following immune checkpoint inhibitors treatment. The clinical disparities between IA and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) imply disease heterogeneity and distinct mechanisms, which remain elusive. Here, we profile CD45 cells from the peripheral blood or synovial fluid (SF) of patients with PD-1-induced IA (PD-1-IA) or RA using single-cell RNA sequencing.

The pathogenicity of CD28 T cells remains elusive in primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS). Therefore, this study was performed to explore the characteristics of CD28 T cells in both peripheral blood and minor salivary glands (MSGs) of pSS patients.

Induction treatment with glucocorticoid (GC) is usually effective, but its tendency of relapse makes the strategy for maintenance treatment a challenge. The WInS IgG4-RD (withdraw immunosuppressants (IMs) and steroid in stable IgG4-RD) trial tested whether discontinuation of GC and IM was feasible in stable IgG4-RD.

Both the lupus panniculitis-like rash and the presence of interstitial lung disease were considered manifestations of systemic involvement of SLE.

Methods: The levels of CFH in the serum and synovial fluid were determined by ELISA. The pyroptosis of monocytes was determined by western blotting and flow cytometry.
Inhibitory immune receptors set thresholds for immune cell activation, and their deficiency predisposes a person to autoimmune responses. However, the agonists of inhibitory immune receptors remain largely unknown, representing untapped sources of treatments for autoimmune diseases. Here, we show that V-set and transmembrane domain-containing 1 (VSTM1) is an inhibitory receptor and that its binding by the competent ligand soluble galectin-1 (Gal1) is essential for maintaining neutrophil viability mediated by downregulated reactive oxygen species production.
