Purpose: To evaluate the induced ocular aberrations after cataract surgery with extreme low- powered and high-powered spherical monofocal intraocular lenses (IOLs) using a new pyramidal wavefront sensor aberrometer.
Setting: Vissum Instituto Oftalmológico, Alicante, Spain.
Design: Prospective observational comparative study.
Purpose: To evaluate the intrasubject repeatability of the ocular aberrometry obtained with a new ocular pyramidal aberrometer technology in a sample of normal eyes.
Methods: A total of 53 healthy eyes of 53 subjects with ages ranging from 18 to 45 years were included in this study. In all cases, three consecutive acquisitions were obtained.

The multifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs) available are often able to restore visual function and allow spectacle independence after their implantation with great levels of patient satisfaction. The factors associated with the postoperatory success include the careful selection of the patient, the knowledge about the IOLs' design, and their visual performance added to the proper surgical technique and management of possible complications as demonstrated by the evidence available.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThis study describes a case of nodular epithelial hyperplasia and stromal alterations in a patient with keratoconus who was submitted to topography-guided photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) followed by corneal collagen cross-linking. Debridement of the epithelial nodule was performed. After a 2-year followup, a new topography-guided PRK was indicated.
