Different mass ratio iron (Fe)-loaded biochars (FeBCs) were prepared from food waste and used in the three-dimensional biofilm-electrode systems (3D-BES) as particular electrodes for landfill leachate treatment. Compared to the unmodified biochar (BC), specific surface area of Fe-loaded biochars (FeBC-3 with a Fe: biochar of 0.2:1) increased from 63.

To address this problem, this study establishes a reference utility model and a subjective decision probability model under the framework of incomplete information game to characterize developers' utility distortion and winning probability distortion in open-bid auctions and sealed-bid auctions for land, respectively. The results show that the deviation between bounded rational bidding and fully rational bidding increases as developer competition intensifies.

Tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) are the most abundant infiltrating immune cells in the tumor microenvironment and promote tumor stemness, proliferation, invasion and metastasis. Evidence suggested that transthyretin (TTR) influenced the prolifetation and invasion functions of different tumors and play an essential role in the tumor microenvironment.

Background: The number of metastatic lymph nodes (MLNs) is not considered in the nodal status (N classification) of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) in the current 8Edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging system. The aim of this study was to find out the optimal cut-off point based on the number of MLNs and establish a modified AJCC staging system for ICC according to the new N category.
Methods: A total of 675 ICC patients diagnosed between 2004 and 2015 were retrieved from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database.

With the intensification of population aging worldwide, the health problems of the elderly have become a particular concern. Functional disability is a prominent problem in the aging of this population, resulting in the decreased quality of life of senile people. Risk factors for functional disability in the elderly include geriatric syndromes and the associated diseases such as frailty.

Genes that contribute to two or more favourable traits with no penalty on yield are rarely reported, especially in wheat. Here, we describe the editing of a wheat auxin response factor TaARF12 by using CRISPR/Cas9 that rendered shorter plant height with larger spikes.

Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is pivotal in TNBC progression, becoming a promising target for TNBC treatment. Our study evaluated N-3, a novel synthetic bifendate derivative, which inhibited the EMT-associated migration and invasion of MDA-MB-231 and 4T1 TNBC cells.

LS is a multi-system disorder with severe neurologic, metabolic, and musculoskeletal symptoms. The presence of progressive, symmetric, and necrotizing lesions in the brainstem are a defining feature of the disease, and the major cause of morbidity and mortality, but the mechanisms underlying their pathogenesis have been elusive.

At present, few studies have been conducted on the molecular mechanism of this disease's resistance response. In this experiment, we analyzed the bioinformation of bra-miR167a, constructed a silencing vector (STTM167a) and an overexpression vector (OE-miR167a), and transformed them to to confirm the role of miR167a in the clubroot resistance mechanism of .

One such paradigm, the differential reinforcement of low-rate responding (DRL), has been used to assess response inhibition, but its underlying mechanism has still been debated. In present research, we examined and differentiated the effects of both response inhibition and interval timing on a multisession DRL-10 s (DRL-10 s) in a large sample of normally developing young adults, as well as with three other measures including the stop-signal reaction task (SSRT), time production task-10 s (TPT-10 s), and the Barrett impulsivity scale-11 (BIS-11).

However, the direction- and rate-dependency of electrophysiological tissue properties on epicardial unipolar electrogram (EGM) morphology is unknown. Therefore, this study examined the impact of spontaneous AES on potential amplitude, -fractionation, -duration, and low-voltage areas (LVAs), and correlated these differences with various degrees of prematurity and aberrancy.

While CRPC typically develops through a gain in androgen receptor (AR) signaling, a subset of CRPC will lose reliance on the AR. This process involves genetic, epigenetic, and hormonal changes that promote cellular plasticity, leading to AR-indifferent disease, with neuroendocrine prostate cancer (NEPC) being the quintessential example.

Given a rapidly evolving and dynamic pandemic, platform trials have a key advantage over traditional randomized trials: multiple interventions can be investigated under a master protocol sharing a common infrastructure.
Methods: This paper focuses on nine platform trials that were instrumental in advancing care in COVID-19 in the hospital and community setting.
Safety of the observation window is one of the core concerns for manned submersibles. When subjected to underwater static pressure, extrusion and creep deformation always occur in the observation window, which can pose a threat to both safety and optical performance. To assess the deformation, real-time and non-contact monitoring methods are necessary.

Controlling the nanoscale orientation of π-conjugated systems remains challenging due to the complexity of multiple energy landscapes involved in the supramolecular assembly process. In this study, we have developed an effective strategy for programming the pathways of π-conjugated supramolecular polymers, by incorporating both electron-rich methoxy- or methanthiol-benzene as donor unit and electron-poor cyano-vinylenes as acceptor units on the monomeric structure. It leads to the formation of parallel-stacked supramolecular polymers as the metastable species through homomeric donor/acceptor packing, which convert to slip-stacked supramolecular polymers as the thermodynamically stable species facilitated by heteromeric donor-acceptor packing.

The icing of transmission conductor seriously threatens the safe operation of power grids. Slippery lubricant-infused porous surface (SLIPS) has shown great potential for anti-icing applications. However, aluminum stranded conductors have complex surfaces, and the current SLIPSs are almost prepared and studied on small flat plates.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTandem mass tags (TMT) are one of the most widely used techniques in proteomics quantification due to their ability to accurately and precisely analyze up to 18 samples in a multiplexed manner. Moreover, TMT tags are introduced chemically by covalent coupling of the primary amines of digested proteins, making them universally applicable for any kind of sample. However, in addition to amine groups, the hydroxyl groups of serine, threonine, and tyrosine residues can also be labeled to some extent during TMT labeling, which compromises the analytical sensitivity and results in lower peptide identification rates compared to label-free methods.

Avoiding the low specificity of phototheranostic reagents at the tumor site is a major challenge in cancer phototherapy. Meanwhile, angiogenesis in the tumor is not only the premise of tumor occurrence but also the basis of tumor growth, invasion, and metastasis, making it an ideal strategy for tumor therapy. Herein, biomimetic cancer cell membrane-coated nanodrugs (mBPP NPs) have been prepared by integrating (i) homotypic cancer cell membranes for evading immune cell phagocytosis to increase drug accumulation, (ii) protocatechuic acid for tumor vascular targeting along with chemotherapy effect, and (iii) near-infrared phototherapeutic agent diketopyrrolopyrrole derivative for photodynamic/photothermal synergetic therapy.
