Electronic health record (EHR) data are increasingly used to support real-world evidence studies but are limited by the lack of precise timings of clinical events. Here, we propose a label-efficient incident phenotyping (LATTE) algorithm to accurately annotate the timing of clinical events from longitudinal EHR data. By leveraging the pre-trained semantic embeddings, LATTE selects predictive features and compresses their information into longitudinal visit embeddings through visit attention learning.

However, nonessential metals in infant formulas are a concern because infants are highly vulnerable to chemical exposure. The aim of this study was to investigate infant exposure to nonessential metals in infant formula products in Taiwan and assess the associated health risks.

Methods: To induce experimental dry eye in adult wild-type C57BL/6 mice, scopolamine was administered via subcutaneous injection, and the mice were subjected to desiccating stress. To create an in vitro model of dry eye, desiccation stress was applied to the human corneal epithelial cell line (HCE-T).
Purpose: Blood culture (BC) remains the gold standard for the diagnosis of bloodstream infections. Improving the quality of clinical BC samples, optimizing BC performance, and accelerating antimicrobial susceptibility test (AST) results are essential for the early detection of bloodstream infections and specific treatments.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective multicenter study using 450,845 BC specimens from clinical laboratories obtained from 19 teaching hospitals between 1 January 2021 and 31 December 2021.
Background: According to previous research, 2.8% of lesions clinically identified as endodontic pathosis were ultimately diagnosed as non-endodontic periapical lesions via histopathology, and 3.7% of these non-endodontic periapical lesions were malignant neoplasms.

However, the detrimental effects of exposure to EDCs, including bisphenols, parabens, and triclosan (TCS), on SjS have been inadequately documented. Thus, we conducted a cross-sectional study that included both healthy individuals (controls) and patients with SjS (cases).

Methods: Various tumor models, including B16-F10, MC38 and Hep1-6 tumor hypodermic inoculation models, B16-F10 and Hep1-6 pulmonary metastasis models, Hep1-6 orthotopic implantation model, and chemically induced hepatocellular carcinoma model, were utilized to evaluate the anti-tumor function of PZH. Tumor growth was assessed by measuring tumor size and weight of solid tumors isolated from C57BL/6 mice.
With the emergence of Omicron variant of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, Taiwan has encountered the greatest coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic since 2022 spring. We analyzed the characteristics, vaccinations, and outcomes of hospitalized COVID-19 patients quarantined in a dedicated ward. This retrospective study enrolled hospitalized COVID-19 patients in the dedicated wards of a district hospital in southern Taiwan from May 2022 to July 2022.

The razor clam Sinonovacula constricta is known for its richness in long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFA, C ≥ 20). Previously, we demonstrated that it possesses a complete LC-PUFA biosynthetic pathway. However, the mechanisms by which it senses the LC-PUFA pool to regulate their biosynthesis remain unclear.

Here, we provided a promising approach by adding specific doses of 2-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone (HNQ) to postdenitrification bioreactors. This approach of adding a small dosage of 0.

We also compared two propensity models with and without preoperative RHF to assess its effect on outcomes. INTERMACS was queried from July 2008 to December 2017.

A total of 24 human hearts were procured for the research study-6 in the DBD group and 18 in the DCD group. DCD group was divided into three groups ( = 6) based on different WITs (20, 40, and 60 min).

Nonetheless, approximately 90% of Chinese community residents regularly engage in at least one unhealthy lifestyle. Mobile smart devices-based health interventions (mHealth) that incorporate theoretical frameworks regarding behavioral change in interaction with the environment may provide an appealing and cost-effective approach for promoting sustainable adaptations of healthier lifestyles.

Herein, hollow microspheres, as an ideal coating, possess significant potential for solid-phase microextraction (SPME) due to their fascinating properties. In this study, multiwalled carbon nanotube hollow microspheres (MWCNT-HMs) were utilized as a fiber coating for the SPME of PAEs from tea beverages.

We sought to test the ability of a machine learning method to extract accurate PD diagnoses from an electronic medical record (EMR) system, to see whether genetic variants identified in European populations generalize to individuals of African and Hispanic ancestries, and to compare the rates of PD across ancestries.
Methods: A machine learning method using natural language processing was applied to EMRs of US veterans participating in the VA Million Veteran Program (MVP) to identify individuals with PD.
The cyclic GMP-AMP synthase (cGAS)/stimulator of interferon gene (STING) signaling pathway plays a critical protective role against viral infections. Metazoan STING undergoes multilayers of regulation to ensure specific signal transduction. However, the mechanisms underlying the regulation of bacterial STING remain unclear.

Image outpainting gains increasing attention since it can generate the complete scene from a partial view, providing a valuable solution to construct 360° panoramic images. As image outpainting suffers from the intrinsic issue of unidirectional completion flow, previous methods convert the original problem into inpainting, which allows a bidirectional flow. However, we find that inpainting has its own limitations and is inferior to outpainting in certain situations.
