Background: Breast cancer is a common malignant tumor in female, and its 5-year survival rate remains low. The correlation between mediator subunit 1 (MED1) gene and macrophage phenotypic transformation may be a key factor affecting the therapeutic effect on cancer.
Objective: The present study intended to explore the role of MED1 in macrophage polarization and its further influence on the malignant behaviors of breast cancer.
Background/aims: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been shown to participate in the development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) by modulating multiple cellular processes. Increased miR-224 expression enhances proliferation and metastasis in human cancers. This study aimed to investigate the role of miR-224 and its underlying mechanism of action in PDAC.

Using GC-MS analysis, the chemical composition of MEO was characterized, showing that it was mainly composed of menthol, menthone and menthy acetate. MEO exhibited potent anti-inflammatory activities in a croton oil-induced mouse ear edema model.

Background: Transareola single-site endoscopic thyroidectomy has been successfully established as a surgical approach. This study investigated the feasibility and safety of transareola single-site endoscopic thyroidectomy for bilateral thyroid disease.
Patients And Methods: Twelve patients who underwent bilateral thyroidectomy were enrolled in this study.
Aim: To investigate the therapeutic effects of different styles of gastric bypass surgery on type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) GK rats.
Methods: Twenty 6-8-week-old male GK rats were randomly divided into four groups: group A was operated by Roux-en-Y gastrojejunostomy with duodenum exclusion and stomach capacity maintenance, group B was operated by loop-type gastrojejunostomy with duodenum exclusion and stomach capacity maintenance, group C was operated by Roux-en-Y gastrojejunostomy with partial gastrectomy, and group D was operated by loop-type gastrojejunostomy with partial gastrectomy. Changes of fasting blood glucose, oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), and insulin tolerance test (ITT) in different operations were detected.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are non-coding RNAs that regulate the expression of target mRNAs. Altered expression of specific miRNAs in human gastric cancer progression has been reported; however, the role of miR-650 in gastric cancer is poorly understood. In this study, we show that miR-650 is involved in lymphatic and distant metastasis in human gastric cancer, and we find that ectopic expression of miR-650 promotes tumorigenesis and proliferation of gastric cancer cells.
