Article Synopsis
  • Architected materials that respond to stimuli show potential for energy storage, wearables, and bioengineering, with molybdenum disulfide as a key component for lithium-ion battery anodes.
  • Traditional molybdenum disulfide has limitations like brittleness, affecting its performance, but researchers have created a three-dimensional foam structure using a dewetting process.
  • This new foam structure enhances charge transport and ion diffusion, leading to better energy storage capabilities and outpacing other materials in battery performance, paving the way for innovative applications.

To study the role of modified zeolite-Y-based hydrocracking catalyst in crude-oil hydroconversion, various hydrocracking catalysts were synthesized with various zeolites. The zeolites and catalysts were characterized with nitrogen adsorption (N-adsorption), small-angle X-ray scattering, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), wavelength-dispersive X-ray fluorescence, and the ammonia temperature-programmed desorption (NH-TPD). Their reaction performance was evaluated with crude oil under commercial hydrocracker operating conditions in a pilot plant unit.
