Purpose: This study aims to investigate the risk factors for lymph node metastasis (LNM) in synchronous multiple primary lung cancer (sMPLC) using clinical and CT features, and to offer guidance for preoperative LNM prediction and lymph node (LN) resection strategy.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data and CT features of patients diagnosed with sMPLC at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2022. Patients were classified into two groups: the LNM group and the non-LNM (n-LNM) group.

Eph receptor B2 (EPHB2) is overexpressed in some tumors and relevant to unfavorable outcomes of tumor patients. By searching Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis and KM Plot websites, we discovered that EPHB2 was highly expressed in patients with esophageal cancer, leading to poor prognosis. However, the role and molecular mechanism of EPHB2 in esophagus cancer is unknown.

Invasion and migration are the primary factors for mortality in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) patients. The precise role of RNA-binding motif protein15 (RBM15)-mediated m6A modification in LUAD is not yet fully clarified. This research aims to elucidate the mechanism of RBM15 in the invasion and migration of LUAD.

Chemoradiotherapy (CRT) followed by consolidation of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), such as durvalumab or pembrolizumab, for patients with unresectable, locally advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with tumor PD-L1 expression <1% remains a topic of controversy. Previous studies from PubMed, Cochrane Library and Embase databases were searched for a meta-analysis. A total of 16 studies were included in part one of the meta-analysis and it was observed that consolidation of ICIs after CRT improved overall survival (OS) [hazard ratio (HR) 1.

Purpose: Based on the quantitative and qualitative features of CT imaging, a model for predicting the invasiveness of ground-glass nodules (GGNs) was constructed, which could provide a reference value for preoperative planning of GGN patients.

Materials And Methods: Altogether, 702 patients with GGNs (including 748 GGNs) were included in this study. The GGNs operated between September 2020 and July 2022 were classified into the training group (n = 555), and those operated between August 2022 and November 2022 were classified into the validation group (n = 193).

DIRAS family GTPase 1 (DIRAS1) has been reported as a potential tumor suppressor in other human cancer. However, its expression pattern and role in cervical cancer remain unknown. Knockdown of DIRAS1 significantly promoted the proliferation, growth, migration, and invasion of C33A and SiHa cells cultured .

Unlabelled: In minimally invasive thoracoscopic surgery, for solitary pulmonary nodules (SPNs) far from the pleura, it is difficult to resected by only relying on imaging data, and effective preoperative localization can significantly improve the success rate of surgery. Therefore, preoperative localization is particularly important for accurate resection. Here, we compare the value of a novel Lung-pro-guided localization technique with Hook-wire localization in video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery.

Article Synopsis
  • * A study analyzed 456 patients over 65 who underwent lung surgery to identify risk factors for PPCs, using methods like propensity score matching and logistic regression.
  • * Results showed that 31.1% experienced PPCs, with pneumonia being the most common; having a lower ASA classification and undergoing video-assisted surgery were linked to a reduced risk of complications.

The objective was to explore the relationships between computed tomography (CT) lung volume parameters and pulmonary function test (PFT) indexes and develop predictive scores to predict PFT indexes in Chinese preoperative patients suspected with lung cancer. Preoperative patients suspected with lung cancer aged 18 years or more and examined by chest CT scan and PET were consecutively recruited from April to August 2020, at Yunnan Cancer Hospital. CT and PET data were selected from medical record.

Several studies have revealed that computed tomography (CT) features can make a distinction in the invasive properties of pure ground-glass nodules (pGGNs). However, imaging parameters related to the invasive properties of pGGNs are unclear. This meta-analysis was designed to decipher the correlation between the invasiveness of pGGNs and CT-based features, and ultimately to be conducive to making rational clinical decisions.

Article Synopsis
  • * Analysis of eleven studies with 1,131 SPLC patients found no significant survival difference between patients undergoing lobectomy versus sublobar resection, while pneumonectomy resulted in poorer outcomes.
  • * Key factors linked to worse prognosis post-SPLC surgery include having synchronous SPLC, larger tumor size, solid tumor morphology, lymph node metastasis, and smoking; some factors like tumor type and gender showed no impact on patient outcomes.

Background: China's southwestern region, Qujing, harbors a high incidence of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and related mortality. This study was designed to reveal the impact of an immune-related prognostic signature (IRPS) on advanced NSCLC in the Qujing.

Methods: Tissue specimens from an independent cohort of 37 patients with advanced NSCLC were retrospectively evaluated to determine the relationship between the IRPS estimated by next-generation sequencing (NGS) and clinical outcome.

Background: Rab8A has been reported as an oncogenic gene in breast and cervical cancer. However, the function and molecular mechanism of Rab8A in esophagus cancer has not been reported.

Methods: Rab8A expression was detected by qPCR and western blotting assays, small interference RNA (siRNA) was applied to reduce Rab8A expression, and the biological behaviors of esophagus cancer cells were estimated by cell counting kit-8, colony formation, and transwell and western blotting assays.

  • Distant metastasis is a major reason why people with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) die, and a protein called MTA1 plays a role in this process.
  • Researchers found that MTA1 is found in high amounts in cancer tissues and affects how cancer cells move and invade other parts of the body.
  • By studying how MTA1 interacts with another protein called TJP1, they discovered that MTA1 weakens the connections between cancer cells, making it easier for them to spread, which suggests that targeting these proteins could help fight NSCLC.

N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is the most common internal modification in mammalian mRNAs while RNA-binding motif protein 15 (RBM15) is an important methyltransferase in m6A modification. Increasing evidences have shown that RBM15 has a close correlation with lung cancer. However, specific functions of RBM15 in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) are limited.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the role of metastasis-associated protein 1 (MTA1) as a prognostic marker to identify high-risk patients with multifocal non-small cell lung cancers (NSCLCs) that are 3 cm or smaller, filling a gap in postoperative treatment standards.
  • Researchers analyzed clinical and survival data from 119 patients and found that higher MTA1 expression correlates with poor disease-free survival (DFS), particularly in specific lung cancer subtypes.
  • The findings suggest that patients with MTA1 scores above 5.6 have an increased risk of recurrence post-surgery and may benefit from additional chemotherapy.

Objective: Although the significance of increased plasma D-dimer levels in activating coagulation and fibrinolysis has been reported, it is still controversial whether it can be used to predict the prognosis of lung cancer patients. This meta-analysis was performed to explore the beneficial role of plasma D-dimer as a prognostic factor in lung cancer patients according to a larger sample capacity.

Materials And Methods: MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Cochrane Central databases were searched from inception to January 2021.
