Pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) are a series of ubiquitous natural toxins in flowering plants, which are associated with serious hepatic disease in humans. However, the simultaneously fast and sensitive monitoring of different PAs are still challenge because of the diversity of PAs and huge amount of interference in complex samples, such as scented tea samples. In this study, molecularly imprinted solid phase microextraction (MIP-SPME) fibers were fabricated by using multi-template imprinting technique for selective recognition and efficient enrichment of different PAs from scented teas.

The illegal addition of progesterone to cosmetics could cause serious adverse reactions and pose a serious threat to human health. In this work, a simple, fast and sensitive method was developed by combining molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction and high-performance liquid chromatography (MISPE-HPLC) for the selective determination of progesterone in cosmetics. Chitosan-modified silica is used as the carrier to provide binding sites for the effective conjugation of the target.

Article Synopsis
  • Hydrocortisone (HC) is a steroid hormone drug that poses environmental risks as it often contaminates pharmaceutical wastewater, threatening human health and ecosystem sustainability.
  • A new adsorbent system called Al-MOFs@NH, made from amino-functionalized aluminum-based metal-organic frameworks, was developed to effectively capture HC due to its large surface area and stable structure.
  • The Al-MOFs@NH system, combined with HPLC, shows high selectivity, a low limit of detection, and reliable recovery rates for HC, making it a promising solution for analyzing and removing steroid hormone pollutants from wastewater.

Recently, many deep learning based researches are conducted to explore the potential quality improvement of compressed videos. These methods mostly utilize either the spatial or temporal information to perform frame-level video enhancement. However, they fail in combining different spatial-temporal information to adaptively utilize adjacent patches to enhance the current patch and achieve limited enhancement performance especially on scene-changing and strong-motion videos.
