- The study analyzes changes in six ecosystem services (water conservation, crop production, soil retention, carbon storage, habitat quality, and tourism recreation) in the tourism-oriented towns of Haikou and Sanya from 2005 to 2020.
- Results show a decreasing trend in all ecosystem services, except tourism recreation in Haikou, with coastal zones exhibiting lower values compared to noncoastal zones, particularly in Sanya.
- The research indicates that natural environmental factors have the greatest influence on ecosystem services in both cities, followed by socioeconomic and tourism development factors, and offers recommendations for sustainable tourism development and better management of ecosystem services.
