Preeclampsia (PE) is a pregnancy-specific disorder and a significant contributor to maternal, fetal and neonatal morbidity and mortality worldwide. Its pathogenesis is generally accepted as insufficient trophoblast invasion of the maternal endometrium and inadequate remodeling of the maternal spiral arteries. These impairments lead to elevated levels of hypoxia and oxidative stress.

Background: Sepsis is a complicated disease with systemic inflammation or organ dysfunction, and it is the leading cause of acute lung injury (ALI). Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have played important roles in the pathogenesis of sepsis. This study was designed to explore the biological function and regulatory mechanism of cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 2B antisense RNA 1 (CDKN2B-AS1) in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced lung injury.

The data on long-term outcomes of patients infected by SARS-CoV-2 and treated with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in China are merely available. A retrospective study included 73 patients infected by SARS-CoV-2 and treated with ECMO in 21 intensive care units in Hubei, China. Data on demographic information, clinical features, laboratory tests, ECMO durations, complications, and living status were collected.

Objectives: This study aims to determine the protection provided by Shenfu injection (a traditional Chinese medicine) against development of organ dysfunction in critically ill patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Trial Design: This study is a multicenter, randomized, controlled, open-label, two-arm ratio 1:1, parallel group clinical trial.

Participants: The patients, who are aged from 18 to 75 years old, with a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of severe or critical COVID-19, will be consecutively recruited in the study, according to the guideline on diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 (the 7 version) issued by National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China.

The conventional flue gas treatment technologies require high capital investments and chemical costs, which limit their application in industrial sectors. This study developed a sulfur-cycling technology to integrate sulfide production by biological sulfur reduction and simultaneous catalytic desulfurization and denitrification with HS (HS-SCDD) for flue gas treatment and sulfur recovery. In a packed bed reactor, high-rate sulfide production (1.

Cardiac inflammation and cardiac fibrosis are important parts of cardiac remodeling following myocardial infarction (MI), which may be the basic mechanisms of the development of chronic heart failure. The nuclear factor (NF)-κB signaling pathway promotes cardiac inflammation and fibrosis. It has reported that hesperetin inhibits cardiac remodeling induced by pressure overload in mice.

Background: Injury to the kidney epithelial barrier is a characteristic feature of acute kidney injury (AKI). Serum surfactant protein-D (SP-D), a known biomarker of damaged alveolar epithelium, is also secreted by renal tubular epithelial cells. Therefore, the aim of this study was to examine the possible association of SP-D with AKI susceptibility and prognosis.
