Objective: To investigate the structural changes inintestinal flora and metabolic changes in type 2 diabetic patients with obesity(BMI≥40 kg/m)by sequencing the 16S rRNA genes.

Methods: Stool samples were collected from 4 diabetic patients before and after gastric bypass surgery for extraction of the total DNA. The diversity of the intestinal flora in the samples was investigated by 16S rRNA sequencing.

Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic effects of laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB) and laparoscopic duodenal-jejunal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy (SADJB-SG) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and a low body mass index (BMI) of 25-27.5.

Methods: Thirty-one type 2 diabetic patients with a BMI of 25-27.

Background: Caner-initiating cells (CICs or cancer stem cells) have been shown both experimentally and clinically to be resistant to radiation. The mechanism underlying radioresistance remains unclear.

Methods: In the present study, we screened 51 genes which are potentially important in mediating radioresistance of breast CICs.

Raman spectra of human serum albumin (HSA) and HSA-3-picolylamine complex were obtained. The spectra indicate the configuration and structural transformations of HSA. The results show that the secondary structure is main alpha-helix, and the binding of 3-picolylamine doesn't change the secondary structure.

Objective: To evaluate therapeutic effects of endovenous laser treatment (ELT) and subfascial endoscopic perforator surgery (SEPS) in the treatment of venous leg ulcer (VLU).

Methods: ELT and SEPS were performed in 10 patients with VLU (involving 10 legs). Among them, external valvuloplasty was performed in 4 legs with deep venous valve insufficiency.

Objective: To compare the immediate therapeutic effects of endovenous laser treatment (ELT) and conventional surgery for lower extremity varicosity (LEV).

Methods: Twenty-two limbs of 20 patients with ELT and 36 limbs of 30 patients with traditional surgery were analyzed in terms of operation time, number of the incision, postoperative pain, complications, postoperative hospital stay and one-year recurrence rate.

Results: ELT group had shorter operation time, fewer incisions, less postoperative pain and shorter hospital stay than conventional surgery group, but the two groups showed no significant difference in complications and one-year recurrence rate.

As a continuation of the study on the construction of the multidecker aromatic compounds with pi-pi interactions, the anthracene derivatives 9,10-dimethylanthracene (dman), 9,10-diphenylanthracene (dpan), and 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (dmban) have been studied toward complexation with the silver(I) ion. The crystal structures of [Ag(dman)(0.5)(p-xylene)(ClO(4))], [Ag(2)(dpan)(0.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers synthesized five novel silver(I) coordination polymers using a compound called cis-1,2-dicyano-1,2-bis(2,4,5-trimethyl-3-thienyl)ethene (cis-dbe) and characterized their properties.
  • The complexes [Ag(2)(cis-dbe)(CF(3)SO(3))(2)] and [Ag(2)(cis-dbe)(CF(3)CO(2))(2)] exhibit one-dimensional infinite chain structures, while [Ag(2)(cis-dbe)(C(n)F(2)(n)(+1)CO(2))(2)] features a two-dimensional sheet structure.
  • These silver complexes show a color change
