Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to explore the link between serum saturated fatty acids (SFAs) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in middle-aged and elderly Chinese individuals, involving 607 adults aged 45 and older.
  • - Serum levels of various even-chain and odd-chain SFAs were measured, and MCI was assessed using standardized neuropsychological tests, with 14.17% of participants diagnosed with MCI.
  • - Results indicated that higher levels of specific SFAs were significantly associated with increased odds of MCI, suggesting that SFAs might impact cognitive function, which could influence dietary recommendations.

Aim: Although lipoproteins are well-established risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality, conventional measurements failed to identify lipoprotein particle sizes. This study aimed to investigate associations of lipoprotein subclasses categorized by particle sizes with risk of all-cause and CVD mortality in individuals with type 2 diabetes.

Methods: This study included 6575 individuals with type 2 diabetes from the UK Biobank.

Approximately half of the SARS-CoV-2 infections occur without apparent symptoms, raising questions regarding long-term humoral immunity in asymptomatic individuals. Plasma levels of immunoglobulin G (IgG) and M (IgM) against the viral spike or nucleoprotein were determined for 25,091 individuals enrolled in a surveillance program in Wuhan, China. We compared 405 asymptomatic individuals who mounted a detectable antibody response with 459 symptomatic COVID-19 patients.
