Pain is commonly comorbid with anxiety; however, the neural and molecular mechanisms underlying the comorbid anxiety symptoms in pain (CASP) have not been fully elucidated. In this study, we explored the role of acid-sensing ion channel 1a (ASIC1a), located in GABAergic neurons from the central nucleus of the amygdala (GABA), in the regulation of CASP in an acute pain mouse model. We found that the mice displayed significant mechanical pain sensitization and anxiety-like behaviors one day post injection of complete Freud's adjuvant (CFA1D).

We previously reported that treatment with chondroitin sulfate from sturgeon bone (CSSB) promoted anti-apoptotic activity in hydrogen peroxide (HO)-treated chondrocytes and had a protective effect on mitochondria. It is known that cells can repair damaged mitochondria through autophagy, thus inhibiting the development of apoptosis. Therefore, it is reasonable to speculate that CSSB treatment may inhibit chondrocyte apoptosis via regulation of autophagy.

Ninjurin 2 (NINJ2) is a novel adhesion molecule expressed in neurons and glial cells. The current study determined if specific microRNA (miRNA) can regulate NINJ2 expression in human neuronal cells. Sequence analysis of NINJ2 mRNA 3'-untranslated region (3'-UTR) revealed that microRNA-764 (miR-764) putatively targets NINJ2.

Chondroitin sulfate (CS) is an important component of the extracellular matrix of cartilage and has been widely used as one of the main drugs for the treatment of joint pain-related nutraceuticals and medicines. Sturgeon bone (SB) is the main waste during deep processing of sturgeons in fishery production. The present study was evaluated the therapeutic effect of CS from SB (CSSB) on monosodium iodoacetate (MIA)-induced osteoarthritis (OA) pain and further explored the potential medicinal value of CSSB.

Association of serum Ninjurin2 levels with neurologic damage and postherpetic neuralgia occurrence: an observational cohort study in chinese herpeszoster patients.

Objectives: Postherpetic neuralgia(PHN) is the most common complication of herpeszoster (HZ) infection. The study aimed to explore whether serum Ninjurin2 (for nerve injury-induced protein 2, NINJ2), a novel neurologic damage related protein, is associated with nerve injury and the occurrence of PHN.
