Background: Myelin loss is a feature of cerebral small vessel disease (cSVD). Although physical activity levels may exert protective effects over cSVD pathology, its specific relationship with myelin content in people living with the cSVD is unknown. Thus, we investigated whether physical activity levels are associated with myelin in community-dwelling older adults with cSVD and mild cognitive impairment.

Falls are a major health-care concern, and while dual-task performance is widely recognized as being impaired in those at-risk for falls, the underlying neurocognitive mechanisms remain unknown. A better understanding of the underlying mechanisms could lead to the refinement and development of behavioral, cognitive, or neuropharmacological interventions for falls prevention. Therefore, we conducted a cross-sectional study with community-dwelling older adults aged 70-80 years with a history of falls (i.

Aerobic exercise training has been shown to attenuate cognitive decline and reduce brain atrophy with advancing age. The extent to which resistance exercise training improves cognition and prevents brain atrophy is less known, and few studies include long-term follow-up cognitive and neuroimaging assessments. We report data from a randomized controlled trial of 155 older women, who engaged in 52 weeks of resistance training (either once- or twice-weekly) or balance-and-toning (twice-weekly).

Introduction: Current research suggests that the neuropathology of dementia-including brain changes leading to memory impairment and cognitive decline-is evident years before the onset of this disease. Older adults with cognitive decline have reduced functional independence and quality of life, and are at greater risk for developing dementia. Therefore, identifying biomarkers that can be easily assessed within the clinical setting and predict cognitive decline is important.

In this study, we examined the experimental catalytic oxidation of gaseous monochlorobenzene (MCBz) with O₃ over Fe₂O₃ in a packed bed reactor to investigate the feasibility of economical low temperature decomposition at a high space velocity (SV). We investigated the effects of several reaction parameters (temperature, O₃ concentration, and SV) on the MCBz oxidation. At 150°C, the conversion of MCBz over Fe₂O₃ in the absence of O₃ was only 3%; it increased to 91% over Fe₂O₃ in the presence of 1,200 ppm of O₃ at a high SV of 83 s(-1).

A low-temperature catalytic oxidation of chlorobenzene (CB) has been performed at temperatures of 60-210°C using ozone (O(3)) over iron oxide and manganese oxide, respectively. In the absence of ozone, CB conversion achieved with these two catalysts at 200°C was below 10%. However, addition of 1200 ppm ozone results in a remarkable increase in CB conversion and the conversion reaches 91.
