The large-scale burning of coal has led to increasingly serious SO environmental pollution problems. The SO adsorption and removal technology based on porous carbons has the advantages of less water consumption, no secondary pollution, recycling of pollutants, and renewable utilization of adsorbents, in contrast to the wet desulfurization process. In this work, we developed a series of N-doped coal-based porous carbons (NCPCs) by calcining a mixture of anthracite, MgO, KOH and carbamide at 800 °C.

Acute ethanol intoxication has become an alarming health problem. In the present study, we discover the beneficial effect of lamivudine on alcoholism in mice. Our results indicate that lamivudine decreases serum alcohol concentration dramatically, and potently activates acetaldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) to accelerate the conversion of acetaldehyde to acetic acid, which is finally metabolized by tricarboxylic acid cycle to be CO and HO.

However, despite high initial response rates, almost all patients eventually develop treatment resistance to EGFR tyrosine-kinase inhibitors. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of sintilimab with or without IBI305 plus pemetrexed and cisplatin, compared with pemetrexed and cisplatin alone, for the treatment of patients with locally advanced or metastatic EGFR-mutated non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who had disease progression after receiving EGFR tyrosine-kinase inhibitor therapy.

The varying carrier frequencies of a metamaterial antenna can generate the random radiation field for super-resolution correlation imaging, but the variation of the signal carrier frequency leads to large phase errors in the imaging results. In this proposed method, the sampling matrix in the super-resolution correlated imaging algorithm is used to compensate for the phase errors.

This study aimed to put this definition and classification into practice and investigate the potential risk factors and clinical impacts of PPAP.
Methods: Demographic and perioperative data of consecutive patients who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) from January 2019 to July 2021 were collected and analyzed retrospectively.
Itch sensation provokes the scratch reflex to protect us from harmful stimuli in the skin. Although scratching transiently relieves acute itch through activation of mechanoreceptors, it propagates the vicious itch-scratch cycle in chronic itch by further aggravating itch over time. Although well recognized clinically, the peripheral mechanisms underlying the itch-scratch cycle remain poorly understood.

Methods And Results: DSS-induced colitis is used to investigate the effect of Heterophyllin B (HB), a typical active cyclopeptide extracted from Pseudostellaria heterophylla, on colitis and gut microbiota. Administration of HB substantially mitigates the symptoms of UC as evidenced by increasing body weight and colon length, as well as decreased macrophages infiltration in the colon.
Recessive mutations in glutamate pyruvate transaminase 2 (GPT2) have recently been found to be associated with intellectual and developmental disability (IDD). In this study, we discovered a homozygous missense variant, NM_133443: [c.1172C > T, p.

Nanoscale and non-self-replicating outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) are naturally secreted by some bacteria with their structures and compositions similar to that of the outer membrane of parental bacteria. With some specific bacterial physiological characteristics, , immunomodulations and intercellular communications, OMVs have been intensively studied and extensively used and engineered as vaccines, immunotherapeutic drugs, anti-bacterial agents, and drug delivery carriers. In this review, we describe the extraction, characterization, and functionalization of OMVs with emphasis on the latest progress and prospects in biomedical applications.

However, its mechanism of pathogenesis is still unclear. To investigate the carcinogenic mechanisms of Tipα, SGC7901 cells and SGC7901-derived cancer stem-like cells (CSCs) were stimulated by recombinant Tipα with or without Wnt/β-catenin signaling inhibitor XAV939.

A new tactic to ameliorate insulin resistance, thereby reversing the exacerbation of DM, is urgently needed. The work is aiming to provide a new strategy for DM treatment as well as to identify new targets.

During lactation, alveolar MECs secrete lactose through the apical membrane into the alveolar lumen, whereas alveolar tight junctions (TJs) block the leakage of lactose into the basolateral sides of the MECs. However, lactose leaks from the alveolar lumen into the blood plasma in the mastitis and after weaning.

Methods: After surgery, the rabbits were divided into four groups, with six individuals in the control group and 10 each in the aseptic loosening, S. aureus and S.
An amino acid derivative, thiophene (TDAV), as new building blocks for 2D supramolecular assembly is designed. Various square and rectangular microsheets are achieved and the aspect ratios are precisely regulated by controlling the polarity of cosolvent or water content. By the introduction of chirality, the novel microsaw is also achieved.

PARP inhibitors are selectively active in cells with homologous recombination DNA repair deficiency caused by mutations in BRCA1/2 and other DNA repair pathway genes. Cancers with homologous recombination DNA repair proficiency respond poorly to PARP inhibitors.

Although glucagonoma is usually accompanied by a variety of characteristic clinical symptoms, early diagnosis is still difficult due to the scarcity of the disease. In this study, we present the cumulative experiences, clinical characteristics and treatments of seven patients diagnosed with glucagonoma during the past 10 years at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University.

The data were extracted from PISA 2018 (Programme For International Student Assessment 2018) of Hong Kong, and HLM analysis was conducted with student and school dimensions as the independent variables and student wellbeing as the dependent variable. The results in the student dimension showed that students attending shadow education had a significantly higher level of wellbeing than students who did not attend, and in the school dimension, that school competition climate had a significant impact on students' wellbeing; however, shadow education caused by schoolwork pressure and shadow education support appeared to have no significant impact on wellbeing.

In the mammary glands during pregnancy, the alveolar buds are first branched from the mammary ducts after which they form the alveolar luminal structure for milk production postparturition. Body temperature could increase for several reasons, such as infectious disease and heat stress. We have previously reported that high temperature adversely effects on the lactation capacity of mouse mammary epithelial cells (MECs).

AR, CCRK, and phosphorylated STAT3 expressions in liver tissues of chronic HBV-infected patients and non-HBV controls were determined by western blot and compared between genders. The relationships of expression levels with serum HBV DNA levels, liver inflammation activity, and fibrosis score were analysed in chronic HBV-infected patients.

Methods: This retrospective study used data from patients with primary PDGFRA-mutant GIST who underwent complete resection (2005-2019) at 16 large-scale medical centers in China. Stepwise multivariate Cox regression models were performed to build the prediction model, in which the potential predictors were available in routine clinical practice and using the risk score functions.
Perineural invasion (PNI) is a pathologic feature of pancreatic cancer and is associated with poor outcomes, metastasis, and recurrence in pancreatic cancer patients. However, the molecular mechanism of PNI remains unclear. The present study aimed to investigate the mechanism that HGF/c-Met pathway facilitates the PNI of pancreatic cancer.
